CLK55 loses.......
OK, for those folks who complain that only "victories" are posted, I totally got by butt handed to me the other night.
The scenario...10pm...I 'm feeling a little spunky and testing some of the acceleration limits of my new (1,200 miles) '02 CLK55.... I get off the highway and am cruising down a divided 4-lane. The speed limit is 45mph. The traffic lights are relatively spread out. I'm just enjoying the sound of the AMG V8.
There are a few cars on the road, but I manage to pass most of them by playing follow the leader with a mean sounding sport bike. He notices me a turns around and gives me the "c'mon" wave....we hit maybe 75 before the next light stops us cold. The light turns green and we're off! He is obviously an experienced rider and doesn't miss a shift......HE IS GONE!
I am humbled. Lesson learned.
On an unrelated note, Iv'e been noticing many more sport bikes around lately. In fact, I witnessed a stunt this past Saturday night on the 75/85 highway through downtown. It's about 12:30am. I see a pack of sport bikes (6 or 7) hauling butt up the HOV lane...and the leader is DOING A WHEELIE AT 80mph!!
He must have stayed up a good 1/8 of a mile!

I noticed a new pack of sport bikes going down my street alot lately. Don't know where they popped up from, but I dream of taut chains across the dark midnight road.
I don't mind bikes, but these clowns like to rev their engines at 11 pm, plus they rocket down a 35mph street at 60.
really irritating.

Everyone knows not to race a bike. Almost any motorcycle will hand you your ***. Even a Lamborghini cant touch a 600cc bike. Harleys should not be messed with either.
A 4300 Suzuki SV-650S will hit 60 in 3.3 seconds and the QM in the 11s. For 4300 bucks, I would take one and **** of every single AMG, M, GmHB (quattro) and Vette Z06 owner. hehe.
Just my .02

The person who started the race with one is the one who did the above. There is nothing wrong with it, but that is just to answer your question.

A GSXR750 with a very good rider will pull mid 10's. An average rider will be lucky to pull mid 11's. I had a 964 Turbo a la "bad boys" with a lot of work. It used to give me the greatest of pleasure hunting down 600's and 750's and keeping pace/beating them, let alone if there were any corners involved. The Porsche did 0-100Kmh 3.6sec, 0-160kmh 8 sec. Yes, a well ridden 750 would beat me, but most are not. I also race bikes, and experience has taught me that most street riders have no idea how to ride properly.

As an interesting follow up, I saw a sport bike take on a VERY modified 300ZX and lose.
Yep, I stayed out of the picture. I was just a spectator. Word is that the ZX was pushing 600hp

My friend even killed an F-50 on a highway... he has a Ducati 998S Troy Bayliss edition...
What is more amazing is an F-50 and a 998S Bayliss being on the highway at the same time! 100 F-50's in the world? and 250 Bayliss's in the world i think...I mean what are the odds huh?
Only in Aspen i guess!!!

Many years ago (15?) I spanked a Lamborghini Countach with my Suzuki GS-1100. One of the greatest moments in my life!
A few years later I went against a Porsche Turbo (don't know the year - probably one of 964 variants) with my GSX-1100R and won, but I was actually surprised - he kept up pretty well - I actually had to work at it.
So I can certainly believe that a very hot car car could beat a mid-size bike if the car owner was very good and the bike owner not so good.
I calculated once that a car would need 600+ "real" hp to keep up with my GSXR.

That is why i love bikes so much. For 1/50? of the price, you can have a sweet looking cruiser, that seats two like a lamborghini, and you can spank the living **** out of it!!!!!!!
