Wow, your buddy on a 600cc is getting close to AMA rider times then. I beleive the track record for a Motorcycle on the big track is around 1:17... I am not sure what the displacement of the bike that set it was though.

Termigni,I'm in close to the NJ border a bit past Mahwah,we should get together for a ride sometime.I'm 5 minutes from Bear Mtn if you've heard of it.
I always have to contain mself when I read the "car vs.bike" threads. Some of the stuff I read kills me.I've been riding fast japanese bikes for 25 yrs,you need a hell of alot of car to beat a bike.
Stock N/A 600's dont trap anywhere near 140mph like somebody stated, more like 125mph.If your strapped&lowered&know how to ride 1.5-1.6 60' times are well within reach.I dont know of any E55/E63 even with DR's that can short time like that.If anybody would like to get together for some friendly runs, let me know.
I've posted pix of my bikes here before, but for whatever reason it's saying I'm not allowed to post pix.I'd like to throw some up if someone would be kind enuff to help me out

quit posting times from the PERFECT world
i spend alot of time at the track and never see these times.
i go to tracks like orlando, bradenton, gainsville and moroso which bring out 100's of bike riders(some claiming to be pro's) and on the average, STOCK 600's run in the high 11's to mid 12's and STOCK 1000's run high 10's to mid 11's with the occasional 1000 hitting low 10's. i did see a friend ride a zx-14 to a 9.8 a few months ago but he was a sales manager (been riding for over 10 years) at a local motorcycle shop.
the times from above are done by guys that go and get the family groceries on motorcycles. true pro's, not people that think they are pro's because the've been to 180mph and had a bike for 5 years.
please, i encourage everybody to go to your local drag strip and count the number of STOCK 600's that run in the 10's. hell, i dare you to count the ones that run in the 11's. you'll get maybe one or two out of 30 that hit those times.
yes bikes are fast, but like someone said above, maybe 2% of riders can actually ride them to thier full potential. the other 98% get thier a55es busted by guys in E55's

Akara1,that vid is a very close personal friend of mine on his '04 ZX-10R(not GSXR-1000 like is stated). That ZX-10 has run 9.17@158mph with richard gadson on board at englishtown nj this past august. There is also a vid on streetfire of that same 170rwhp ZX-10 running a 1100rwhp Supra on rte.287 North(by rte.23 interchange). The ZX-10 was gear for an honest 180(on GPS).The ZX-10 was in front&when he ran out of gearing the Supra walked past him at over 180&then promptly threw a rod as they were still filming.
The trap speeds from that article have been corrected.Visit your local dragstrip, please show me a legitimate 140mph trap speed from a naturally aspirated 600.
I'm not going to hijack termigni's thread. However I've been dragracing motorcycles since 1990&own a few 8sec streetbikes. And a streetlegal Busa that has been 214mph on GPS.I know first hand exactly what it takes for a car to beat a bike. We've raced countless cars,Gutted AWD Audi's,1200HP TT Viper's,Lambo's,Vettes, etc.I'm really trying hard NOT to come off as a arrogant bike guy,but I apologize if thats the case. It's just that we do this sorta thing every weekend&have won a decent amount of cash in the process.
If anbody doubts my credibility, simply do a search on www.gixxer.com for username "oldgixxer",I have vids, timeslips&dozens of pix of my bikes.

4NPOWER...06 E55 is a low to mid 12 second car stock. Got any time slips to prove different i'd like to see them. Beautiful car thou and im not downing it in anyway but just because you own one doesn't mean its faster than a bike. I'll be the first to admit if something can whoop what i own instead of looking like an idiot and say it can't.

Those stats are what a bike can do...just like the stats on your car. Bike or car its up to the driver...but in a perfect world with perfect riders in each...your car doesn't have a chance. Isn't that what this thread is all about...cause if it wasn't then everyone would be saying you are a faster rider/driver then mr. soandso. Don't get me wrong...nice *** cars guys but doesnt beat a modern 600. Why compare against a 600 anyways...high end car should be compared to a high end 1000 or so bike to which unless highly modified a stock 1000 or above would kill it.
Last thing... " yes bikes are fast, but like someone said above, maybe 2% of riders can actually ride them to thier full potential. the other 98% get thier a55es busted by guys in E55's"
Do you even see the idiots in high performace cars get their asses handed to them to cars with 1/2 the horses. You can drive a E55 as bad as a bike. So your saying if you drive a E55...its a perfect world with only perfect drivers!
As Jeff Foxworthy would say... "Here's your sign!".

on paper, the 600 spanks the **** out of a E55. but to me, on paper means "the perfect world"
and yes the same goes for the incompetents that buy high hp cars that don't know how to drive them. back when i had my mid 11 sec AWD DSM, i had a friend that bought a TT corvette that dyno'd over 800whp. well after beating him several times he thought he needed to turn up the boost to beat me and ended up blowing the engine at 120mph and doing a 180 in his own oil, skidding off the roadway and flipping several times into a corn field. somehow the guy walked away unharmed. really scared the crap out of me and i was lucky to be ahead of him during the race because the car burst into flames for a second and scatterd debris all over the road when it hit the ditch on the side of the road.

you could put 10 people in the same E55 and they would prolly all be within a 10th of each others times. put the same 10 people on a 600 or even in my supra and they would prolly be within 3-5 seconds of each other
its not the car or the bike, it's the drivers.

I don't know if anybody is still interested in this, but here are some numbers:
2003 Mercedes E55
Test in sport auto 01/2003
0 - 80 km/h 3,3 s
0 - 100 km/h 4,6 s
0 - 120 km/h 5,9 s
0 - 130 km/h - s
0 - 140 km/h 7,6 s
0 - 160 km/h 9,8 s
0 - 180 km/h 12,2 s
0 - 200 km/h 14,6 s
62-125 mph 10.0 sec (14.6-4.6 sec)
2004 Mercedes SL65
Test in ams 13/2004
0 - 80 km/h 3,0 s

0 - 180 km/h 10,1 s

2006 Yamaha R6

0 - 100 km/h 3,3 s
0 - 120 km/h - s
0 - 140 km/h 5,2 s
0 - 160 km/h - s

0 - 160 km/h - s
0 - 180 km/h - s
0 - 200 km/h 9,9 s
62-125 mph 6.5 sec (9.9-3.4 sec)
These 62-125 mph numbers for the bikes should be achievable for most riders, since we're not talking about racing from a dig. Just put it in 2nd gear at 60 mph, twist the wrist and shift at redline.
The bikes are quicker even if we look at higher speeds like 88-125 mph (140-200 km/h):
E55 7.0 sec
SL 65 6.0 sec
GSX-R 600 4.7 sec
Yamaha R6 4.4 sec
That's still a big difference, at least if we're comparing the bikes to the E55.
If we're comparing to cars these bikes does 62-125 mph as fast as a Ferrari Enzo.
So there you have it. Freeway acceleration for the 600s is pretty good.

I raced 2 600cc bikes. One from 0-120...from 0-90...I had him...strangely he creeped 1.5 car lenghts on me, think it was my pump failing. From a roll stage 3 I beat one up...no contest. Agree it had to be an older one.

I think its much harder to drive a bike fast than a car, especially with an auto and with AMG torque...no gears to change and no worries about popping a wheelie on a bike. You just need a functioning right foot. I think most of the AMG wins over bikes (from zero) are probably due to driver skill/error on a bike.

You just need a functioning right foot. I think most of the AMG wins over bikes (from zero) are probably due to driver skill/error on a bike.

you're absolutely right, it's much harder to ride a bike fast. this makes it pretty easy to get the jump on sportbikes. from a dig they're hard to launch successfully and from freeway speeds it takes a considerable amount of time to sequentially shift from 6th to 2nd. however, with the right rider (probably few and far between) it will take a 10 second e55 to beat a stock 600 in the 1/4 dig and it will take a delimited e55 and a long strech of road to ever pass one on the top end.

my e55 k2 has posted an 11.60 and i know i can beat most 600 riders with it...but that's not the bikes fault. my bone stock '99 yamaha r6 posted an 11.29 with a VERY soft launch so i didn't waste the clutch and newer 600s are supposedly putting down 10 more rwhp than it was.
