i personally think that a s65 would beat a Z light to light, a big automatic sedan is pretty idiot proof. from a roll and freeway runs i think the Z would take it. doesnt s65's run mid 11's factory.?

take your traction control off...just learn how to drive the car, go out on an open road and just start banging gears. youll learn real quick how to control it.

the vette weighs 1000 lbs less the the lightest V8 AMG (exclude the C55).
or 1500lbs+ than any of the V12 AMG'
It is a sports car... not a luxury car.
The bette is the best bang for the buck.. let's move on.

i agree. i have a modded Z. the interior blows. and its not a very comfortable drive. drive any more than an hour your right leg is all wet cause the tunnel is smoking hot and your back is soaked. i would much rather drive a MB for an every day driver. dont get me wrong i love my Z. its a cheap race car.

youre an idiot for saying that
yaroslav....
sick car, enjoy and be careful
i would put my $ on a 600+hp vette over an slr
there is an interesting acceleration/top speed test in the new autocar magazine, you guys should pick it up, it has a z06 (although the 0-60 it ran was slower than usual, i guess they couldnt launch it properly). the 0-186 was really slow though (comparatively to others/0-124), that car needs lower gears/final drive

is it me or do the videos look funny? it jumps from like 0-80 in like 2 seconds..the speedo looks off or something..it just doesnt look right. wierd. from my screen it looks like it skips MPH instead of going through each number. (only on the 2nd and 3rd video) 1st one looks normal.

I cant understand what is the point in so long gears......
Will wait for shorter gears of final drive. Then it should run much faster!

Two totally different cars to compare here. The Z06 is inexpensive speed, $70K for something outrunning many competitors at the strip. It is fast because:
1. 7.0 Litre 500 hp V8
2. Low Weight!
Not a bad combination if you ask me.
A high powered MB (55s and 65s) will go head to head with it in real world scenarios, where there are other variables besides the automobile. Although the QTR mile power is stunning, it is within the character of the car. What impresses me is when cars perform out of character. I mentioned the E55 because it is a full weight sedan running 11s stock and a record of 10.5 in the QTR. Luxury sedans are not supposed to do that! That is what I meant with the term impressed in context to this thread.
Having a highway cruiser as heavy and vault-like as the MB SL65 take a purely agile and powerul sports car head on is very impressive to me. I'll repeat this as many times as needed: enjoy all cars, and respect them for their own strong points and performance characteristics.

As far as you being impressed w/E55 that ran the 10.5xx sorry but I'm not, using NOS to get there is like cheating in my book, we could all put NOS on a lot of otherwise stock vehicles and run outstanding times, Not impressive at all to me.
I'am impressed though w/powerhouse 4 door sedans that Mercedes puts out totally cool to see something that is marketed towards familys, perform like a beast w/flick of the throttle

As for the Nitrous, well a 75 shot isn't exactly extreme. The guys running their muscle cars with 250 shots are utilizing NOS technology to new extremes. 10.5 QTR at 137 is the fastest tuned E55 I have heard of. But stockers are capable of breaking into the 11 range, which is noteworthy.

Maybe I missed this one but do you have a link? for these stock E55's running in the 11's that's crazy

I have trouble believing the E55s that you linked above are stock. Especially the one that trapped at 118 mph. Also the very mildly modded with trap of 119 mph. I just don't believe it. You see K4s not doing any better.

Just posting some data I found. They are the slightly stronger few of the E55 pool, for page 3 is full of E55's running low 12s, as opposed to the three I posted in the 11s range. The first two are identified as stock by the owners, the last one, as I said, very mildly upgraded. Also, take into consideration track conditions and other variables besides the vehicle.
