i'm sure 135 is no problem. However, at 145 or thereabouts progress will slow dramatically though on a long enough straight it probably would go above 150. Once had a C320 to 140 and it was puffing. I want to get my car delimited as I'd be interested to see how quick it could go but I heard it would mess with the engine management etc. 170mph for sure but I wonder if there's much above that. Probably not much. You had an M3 so what do you reckon?

I used to have a video of going from 65mph to 155mph (in the M) but my computer crashed and it became lost.

I have 3 videos posted now so just click my link then my user name to see the rest of them.
And the reason it is so loud (with wind) I had the moon roof open along with my windows cracked.

I had it up to the 155 mph limiter multiple times one time it went past that and it indicated 160 mph. Honestly I never trusted that car in terms of being accurate, I wish I had ordered a GPS a long time ago. I have no doubt it will go 170 but going past that will take a long time. Going fast and finding top speed is not that fun for me, I like acceleration from 0-100. But the M3 pulled hard up top

I've seen an indicated 157mph bit then the computers called a halt to the fun so I'm assuming that was fairly accurate.
Had a good run with an V8 S4 the other day but it was wet so I got dusted. Just a stoplight run but the guy seemed cool and I guess there's not much that can beat the S4 when it's slippery.

I 2nd that, the ZHP while climbing to 155MPH it starts gain very slowly. It's not easy. However, the 540i -- or most V8's -- climb very, very easy. I mean when your getting to 140MPH, with a V6 you need to downshift, with the 540i nope, nothing you just mash the gas pedal and it's there!
The M3 is beast, I'm surprised you got rid of it - wait, which one is it? Actually the M3 is one of the BMW's I didn't get to try out.

You're right about the LSD, though DSC can be a real life saver when you're pushing on.
BTW, I ran a personal best 4.82 0-60mph the other week at the strip. I never go to the strip as I prefer the track but I was very pleased with the time. The sad thing is there was a black 996TTS next to me that passed the quarter almost before i'd hit the 1/8!
How's the 328i? I remember you saying had you kept your stick M3 then you'd still have it but the SMG just wasn't for you.

I don't doubt it, those pickups are monsters. When it's wet, all i want to do is steal wifey's car but she'd kill herself in two minutes so I have to put up with it. Lucky it doesn't rain here.

But as for the 328i I love it, I was at first only going to use it as a commute to school car then swap it out and drive the E350 after but the dam 328i is so much fun I hate driving the 350's. Lets just say my next car choice will be "what color 3 series" BMW has won me over now.
My dads manual M3 was a lot older it was one of the first in AZ I want to say it was the 2nd or 3rd delivered by the dealer.

The stick M3 was my dads, he wouldnt let me keep it because I was not "experienced" enough to be driving a manual around at night. He thought I would stall it at a light then have some drunk hit me or if someone tried to car jack me I would stall ect. So he went out an got me an SMG which I loved at first because it was cool and neat, but started to hate it especially when people would ***** about it being rough, then it started to have problems and I hated waiting on it to get fixed and everytime I went to the shop my dad would be like "ow know you crashed it didnt you" ect.

Glad the 328i is working out. I've heard good things about it and the engine is meant to be leaps and bounds ahead of the 325.

That's sweet to have one of the first cars. Unfortunately here in SoCal, there are now just too many M3s and usually driven by idiots or people with no clue. No wonder we have a bad rep.

above 60mph you wouldn't stand a chance. just watch the difference b/w 80mph and 100mph. You still have a nice car tho. It's just not faster than a 540i.

*edit, everything tee_tz has said about the E90, the ZHP E46 and the 540 is accurate.

E46 328i Sport
Raced my buddies 2001 540i (has M sport package), he thought he was going to dust me and I thought the same that car moves.. But when we raced I was dead even with him on rolling starts no one could pull away we were dead even. From a dig we got 1 race and I beat him by 1-2 car lengths because he left traction control on and it slowed him down.

Even the E90 330i can get it! Only the 335i will beat the 540i.

what are you guys talking about??!!!! didn't you know 328 is FTW!!!...no wait...it's the 318...!! OMG!!
in reality as a former 00 328ci owner. I'm calling BS on this kill as well. Even with the 07 underrated motor the 328's at most the same as the E46 zhp in pulling power.

there is no way your going to beat a 540i on a roll dood. if he is your friend you should tape that race and post it here. old or new. my buddy had a 97 540i totalled it and got a 2001 back in high school. basically no dramatic increase in performance from the 97 e39 to the 2001 e39
