Lotus Elise SLK55
So let me get this straight. They took off SLK55's stock 5.5L AMG V8 and swapped it with basically the same 5.5L AMG V8 (some differences include lower compression, different cams, etc)? Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to simply supercharge the stock engine, therby saving around 200,000$, which would put out only about 20-30hp less (according to kleemann). If they were going all out with an engine swap, they should've stuck a bi-turbo V12 in there.

In any case, there is no way that Enzo was driven anywhere near its potential. We know that it traps 5-10mph higher than SLR in the 1/4 mile (124-129 SLR vs 134-136 Enzo) and the SLK with that engine won't be much lighter. If the SLR engine was modified for more boost, the race would be close, but Enzo would still win. Just by listening to Enzo's engine, its clear that the driver is babying it.

P.S. That video is like 2 years old BTW.

The details of the engine swap were posted some time ago. It's more than just an SLR engine. The engine and powertrain were heavily modified to increase power from the standard SLR configuration. Also the SLR engine is more than just cams. It's the same V8 by name only. Pistons, intake, intercoolers, cams, pulleys, etc. The SLK is also 500lbs lighter than the SLR.

does anyone know for sure if they kept the 7 speed?

i would guess they did, and if so, that would explain the "extra" speed over the slr also
