2007 CLS63 030
Talking CLS 63 030 vs. 2007 Z06

Lets try this again and I will provide a bit more detail

2007 CLS 63 w/driver weighs 4500lbs!
HP=507

Weather 60 degrees
Altitude 2700 feet
humidity 40%
Pressure 30.14

2007 Z06
3425 lbs
Hp=505

Obviously we have a problem Houston! This Drag should be over quick. Announcer calls my car a 60k land Yacht, **** talk about depreciation! He chuckles at the fact I am lined up in the left lane vs. a track super car. He was not laughing at the end of the run, as the 63 takes down the Z06 by .051 which equals=a few feet. The Vette driver was visibly upset and waited for me , we line up again. No more announcer jokes. Both cars have trouble and I got the jump again. This time I could not hold him off, he reels me in and nudges me at the line. Third race same thing I fail to hold the Z06 off at the end. Overall I was real happy to be that close and to actually win the first race. The track was horrendous and the traction control gave me an advantage. I guess anything can happen on the street, and anything can happen on the drag! Hopefully we earned a little respect from the Vette guys. I am certain he thought he would destroy the 63, his film crew captured it as well.

your enthusiasm is fun to watch, might i suggest again some drag radials that will help u be more consistent and allow you to focus more on your launch and 60ft, that all makes it even more of a blast to go racing

I have been looking? I cannot find anything in a 19 except hoosiers? I think I am just gonna deflate the rears to 30 psi or less until I can find some 19"s to put on the stock rims. 285/30r/19. Jay I looked all night? Man all the good ones ar 18"s BOOOOO. I know I would do better with TRACTION!

I think 18 is the biggest they make. A lot of the guys have an extra set of rear rims in 18 that they mount the DRs on they take with them and just swap them out when they get to the track. When done put your road rims back on and drive away.

18's are the biggest they make, plus most 19" wheels are pretty heavy and rob HP at the track. I do the method as described above.

This could be why the 030 is not doing as well as non 030 on the drag? Stock 19"s? Do i need to get 4 tires for drag day mounted on 18 inch rims? What is the best I could do for a strip set up?

Loved your story. I ran a modded C6 Z06 (intake, cams, headers, tune)about 6 weeks ago and held my own. He took me all the way but the difference was made up in the first 300'. He was running Nitto 315 DR's to my 265 Conti's. Three weeks later at the track I couldn't get anyone to line up against me because they were all saying, "That's the E55 that ran with the Z06." Great stuff.

Juice, you need to find some stock benz 18x9"+ in the rear, maybe some e55 rims and you can keep your stock fronts and add some BFG drag 275/35/18

Hey There are no Drag radials in 19" we need stock 18" rims with the 275/35/r18 BFG mounted! Sad but 18' would make a diff. Our cars are 175 lbs heavier than the E63 and have a worse drag coefficient .31 vs .29 so our cars SHOULD be slower, we need some more HP to erase the 175 pounds and the poor drag . I swear looking at the two cars the CLS looks more aerodynamic!

ill keep it easy, i run a 265 with over 700TQ at the rear wheels....you want the smallest tire you can put that will allow you the best traction. Its about traction and weight.
