C43 -vs- NSX

This happened a few years ago but I hadn't had a chance to put it up. I drove to the Firebird Raceway in Phoenix Arizona to see if there were any events. There was nothing going on so I decided to go back home. When I took the onramp to northbound I-10, a red NSX was right behind me tailing my rear bumper real closely. As soon as I got off the onramp and onto the freeway and saw an empty stretch of road, I floored the C43 and the NSX followed. My car was pulling hard and I can tell from the rear mirror that I was slowing gaining space on him. As I reach about 100mph, I think put about 4-5 car lengths on him. I kept on going until I reach 130mph. By that time, the NSX was way behind, probably at about 10 car lengths back.

When I reached my exit I slowed and the NSX caught up to me and flashed his lights. I was wondering what that mean, flashing the lights? Anyway, I let him pass and I noticed that it was a 1st generation NSX from the exhaust. I was surprised that my car was much faster when accelerating to highspeed, even if it was only a 1st generation NSX. I was wondering if he was giving his maximum effort. I had fun though, better than watching drag racing at the Firebird Raceway.

The older NSXs are not that fast. I test drove one and noticed my C43 was a bit faster. Gotta love the AMGs. Nice kill.

By the way you described the race, I am sure the NSX was racing. Otherwise, there is no way you would only pulled a few car length (3-4 cars) on him. He probably let off the gas earlier when he noticed that he couldn't catch up considering the 10 car length you pulled.

But don't be too happy... There is a huge chance the NSX is an auto with the 260hp engine. The 5-speed stick is very fast, and yes even the 1st generation run 13.9 sec 1/4 mile. Top speed is very high at around 160 to 170 mph, so, you got lucky with the auto.
