911 Turbo Experience
I am definitely not one to post to the kill forum as I am not prone to racing and have very few opportunities to take on other cars head-to-head on the streets of Atlanta.
However, I'm in London (well, the outskirts - somewhere near Heathrow) at the moment and I had the opportunity to take a ride in one of my UK team member's 911 Turbo this evening. We proceeded to shred every single thing in our path from a Lotus Elise to an Audi S6.
To be perfectly honestly, I was terrified as he accelerated down the highway. I thought my 550 had serious torque, but with the 911, if felt as if the car never stopped accelerating. We topped out at 137mph on the longest run. I wasn't keeping count, but it didn't seem to take very long to get up into the 100s. And equally impressive and terrifying, it didn't take us long to stop either. I was also floored by the car's cornering ability. For those of you who have driven in the UK, you know that roundabouts are everywhere. But the 911 had no problem taking on a roundabout - the car stayed glued to the ground at speed and I felt no body roll.
OK - I will stop swinging from the nut$ of the 911 now, but that is truly a serious sports car.
On the downside, you can feel almost every bump in the road and interior look (though not the feel as it was quite exquisite) was somewhat plain.
Anyways, my heart is finally beating again, so I thought I would share.
On a lighter note, for those of you who love to drink, the UK is the place for you. I'm sitting in the hotel bar at 1am and it is absolutely packed.
As they say inthe UK...cheers!
