Prof test C6 Z06 vs new 600hp Viper!

Hope it's not a repost? some great driving (at least from the Vette) although the Viper drove very well too considering they have ZERO ESP programs

Some cars shouldn't be abused. An original 427 Shelby Cobra, for instance. Or a 300SL Gullwing. However, with modern day high-volume sports cars, beat the hell 'outta them all you want. They've gone through much worse in pre-production R&D.

I totally agree those cars are museum pieces

I remember seeing a blue '66 427 replica on the road when I was younger. Man, what a mean stance that thing had. Ironically, the replicas often outperform the originals in virtually every facet of performance. I remember reading about one that had a 800ci motor jam-packed into the engine bay. I feel bad for the rear tires.

Some of the folks over there (mainly the C6 forum) are more concerned about thier custom stitched floor mats than anything else. They need to get over themselves.

Hey Ricker, been wanting to ask you buy didn't know where to post the question. Now that this thread is up I can ask.

Are you bummed at all that the Blue Devil reports are downgrading hp. We all were hoping for 700hp, but it looks like it's gonna be closer to 600hp.

Just wondering if you were let down at all over the news?

Heh, let down, kinda funny.....the cars are still gonna run 10's all day long at the track.

Me personally no, I'm already nearly at 500 Crank HP w/just bolt-ons, I'll be throwing a blower into the mix and easily reaching 600rwhp = 730 crank HP.

Now there calling it ZR-1 or ZL1 http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/...1-or-zl-1.html will be a beast, & the current C6 Z06 w505 HP is only bested by a few tenths in comparo to the new 600HP Viper (Viper is heavier, among other design variables) Though it would be nice to see the guys at GM build a true freak w/650-700HP, I think as you stated they'll be in the 10's all day long w/another 100 ponies, and since it will be a 6.2 liter w/Supercharger you know the aftermarket Ecu/Pulley will bump this fkr up to 700+

Either way all the competition is great for us consumers! I'll still be lookin' for a lightly beaten 2005-2006 CL65/SL65 in a couple years

PS..I luv your sig picture

I'd guess superchargers are easier to get approval for on the CA registered cars? Othewise, I would go with a twin-turbo kit in a heartbeat over a supercharger kit.

(3) reasons I feel differently....

(1)TT is way more expensive, nearly double after install/tuning

(2)I love the sound of a Kenne Bell twin screw, or Maggie, way more than nearly silent TT

(3)Returning it to stock upon re-sale is way easier/cheaper, I plan to part this Vette out after I'm bored & decide to sell, I'm going to re-coupe a lot more $ this way.

Other than that I agree TT's rule

I've heard that the twin turbo on a C6 could provide just too much low end boost for street driving and that a centrifugal s/c is much better.

The cool thing about a custom tt kit is that you can tune it to bleed off the boost early in the rpm range or even tune it to limit the boost by rpm and gearing as the new Hennessee Viper tt kits do to control wheel spin.

Ricker, I agree with everything but the noise of the tt kits. Many aftermarket tt kits I've run across have a very nice turbo whistle. However, I like the fact that my tt's are silent in my Rennteched CL600.

Having had both FI types on my C6; but the beauty with a TT setup is the option of using a progressive boost controller (EBC), as stated above my "boost by rpms" uses 3 separate channels to adjust the ramp rate and not overdrive the tires too much. For launching, I use a LPE 2-step.
