e36-M vs c32

On the way home around 10:15 pm, heading 380 south towards San Mateo area Here iam at a red light, all of sudden a Silver E36-M pulls next to me REVing his engine i'm tired, but since i'm here lets have some fun. Light turns green, He lightly launchs, i'm playing catch up road is clear i gun for it ! i passed the M around 40MPH took it up to 120ish, the older M is about few bus length back? here i thought this M might be moded reving at me * i dont conisder this as a Kill * since the older e36m's are weaker compare to our 32's, heck he pick the wrong fight.

Hey Eurowow, sweet car, I see you have 350hp and 332trq. Your car would kill the E36 each time. Yours is auto too right? One thing I don't get, you say he lightly launched it and you played catch up. I know by the time I hit 2nd, I'm hammering it way passed 40mph. Even with the extra hp, to pass me at 40mph after I jump ahead from the start seems unlikely.Sounds like this guy doesn't drive the car very well. In no way am I saying the M would beat you, just that the driver gave you a bad impression of the cars ability. Man, I hate it when someone revs their engine at a light wanting to race. You have no idea who they are or how crazy they are. I only run someone I know.

That is true. Buddy had 99 5 speed manual m3. He got wasted by w202 C280 in the beginning. Then he practiced and mastered shifting and what a difference. M3's are like hondas you gotta know how to drive it. Good kill nonetheless. C32's are probably faster anyway.

LOL, like Honda's?
Considering that c32's are on par with E46 m3's I'd say they're probably faster than E36's as well.

No doubt, a stock E36 wouldn't stand a chance. C32 AMG is one impressive car. What year did they start making C32 AMG's? The E46 is more in it's league, since E36 M3's are cars of the 90's, were there any c32 AMG's made then?. That would be a closer match up I'd imagine. I think each cars specs would be closer. I see a supercharger in my future, only then would I challenge a c32 AMG to a dual.

C32's are early 2000's, 2002-2005 maybe?. There have also been c55's, (recent), c43's, and C36 examples of the C amg line. The C43 and c36 would have been competition for the e36 m3.

So the c43 and c36 were made in the 90's?. I just think it's crazy to think a car made in the 90's would be able to take a car made in 2000-07. When a 2000 and up AMG takes on an e36M the outcome should always be AMG. The same would be true if a 2000 and up e46M took on any AMG made in the 90's. (They were made then tight?) not trying to be funny, I just am not sure. One would expect that these cars would have better performance with each new model.

Not sure exactly when but c36's were made in mid 90's and c43 replaced c36 in the late 90's. C36 had a v6 and C43 had a v8 but performance was nearly identical. I've seen c36 going against e36 M and it was a close race.

They do have better performance in the new models, I think the numbers are confusing you, the C43 and C36 can not keep up with the C32 or C55.

Hey man, I was uninformed as to what models were made in what years. I see it as apples and oranges. Apples are cars made in the 90's, they would be competetive against each other. Oranges (cars made 2000 and up) would be competitive with each other. To put an apple against an orange would be an unfair situation, the orange should win everytime(assuming both cars are stock). Thanks for answering my questions.

the apple asked the orange for a race so he got what he got.......if the m3 had won you wouldn't be saying it was unfair.....whats the criteria for a fair race....same year, same $$$, same car??? Run what you brung or whatever the saying is

Hi, I agree, the apple asked the orange for a race....the apple was stupid... "If" the apple was stock. I'm not saying the race was unfair, the apple got what he deserved smashed into apple sauce(haha). I can't see myself pulling up to a red light in my 96 M3 next to a say 2003 c32 AMG and think when the light turns green I'm gonna smoke em'. Remember, I'm only commenting on the kill Eurowow posted about some kid in a E36M reving his engine. Unless his car was modified, say supercharger or turbo, he should already have known the outcome and not embarrassed himself by making the challenge.

OOPS! I did use the word unfair(what a dumb ***). I wasn't trying to defend the M3, just pointing out that newer models are more powerful. Eurowow said it best"he picked the wrong fight"

I would race my apple against your orange, and, I bet I will win.

It's a fun car, it's no Skyline though. Once I get done with suspension, brakes and overall maintenance I plan to supercharge it. Although I've seen much more aggressive applications, I want to keep it somewhere in the 450+hp area. You gotta post some videos of the car when you get it. Have you driven right hand drive cars before? I think I'd be all screwed up sitting in what I think is the passenger seat.
