Talking I killed a 2002 CLK430

I know what ya'll are thinking, "Whats this guy driving to kill a CLK430?" Well, to tell you the truth, it was the other way around. I was driving this car, a brand new 2002 CLK430 with 768 miles on it that the dealership had loaned me for the week.

Heres why, my ML is a lemon so they offered me any car at dealer cost and $2000 cash (don't take it if you get this offer!) So I picked out a pretty little black opal CLK to try.

Anyhow, they always let me borrow cars because I complain SO much about my ML.

I had the CLK in to some MEAN drifts (Enzo Ferrari would have cried!!) in a parking lot with my girlfriends brother. I was basically using the parking lot like a track, weaving in and out of the medians and junk (haha, ya'll already know!!) Well, I got a little outside, on a slick incline in the opposite direction I was turning which created the car to lose traction in the heaviest gripping front wheel (get it?). Well I slid the car right into the concrete median pushing the tire, control arm, wishbones, everything toward the driver. It also ate a nice chunk out of that lovely AMG side skirt. The car was undriveable.

BUT WAIT, THERES MORE!!!

My insurance covered it all!!! But the kicker is this......my insurance company went out there ( I had it towed to the dealership for $100) and looked at it. A few weeks later, I get a check for $1000 and some change. I called my adjuster and he said that he was not finished with the claim. He went back out there and wrote my dealership a check for the final amount. I made $1000 and plus I won $100 off the radio the next day!!!!

LOL!!!!!

God is telling you to come to Las Vegas and gamble!!! So, come on over. If you can get a CLK 430 loaner, wreck it, get a $1,000.00 out of it, and THEN win $100 the next day... then you need to get your butt to Las Vegas, let all the pretty girls rub on you, and gamble. If you're lucky, the casinos might let you borrow a mercedes while you are in Vegas and you can repeat your adventure!!!

And maybe some day, you can start your own business and some punk will borrow your cars and destroy them. He'll probably even brag about it. And when you see your insurance premiums increase, you'll get to say "Wow! That's a kicker! I remember when I did that to someone when I was a stupid little punk." That would be phat!

clearing things up

For one, MY insurance paid for it, NOT Mercedes. I pay $303 a month for insurance on an ML320 and an Audi A4. I have never crashed either one in the 2 and a half years since I've owned them and I have not had a speeding ticket. Do the math!! Thats over $9000 for nothing!! The only reason its that expensive is because I'm 22!!

And another thing. I wasn't bragging, I was simply sharing my story. This mishap occured last year my friend. If you old people think that sharing a story with other "MB Fans" is bragging, then you are sadly in the wrong forum.

The only thing that I was bragging about was the wicked sick drift that I pitched this car into. Who cares if it was my car or not. I wanted to know it's limitations before I dropped $60,000 into another POS MB!!

Go get into your slow E320 and power brake it in front of your retirement community. JEALOUS!!!

Glad to hear your insurance paid for it, it was afterall your stupidity.

$300 a month on each at 22 seems high, so I doubt being 22 is the ONLY reason. I pay $200 CND a month and I'm 23 (and before uou go off, the A4 and C230K are about the same, I got quotes when I was looking), so you must have a horrible driving record from before, and considering how you totalled the CLK, I'd believe it.

If you hate MB because of the "sick drift" I'm guessing the hatred is performance related. If you want a performer, go buy a WRX or BMW, otherwise realize you bought a SUV from a manufacturer known for touring cars, not performance cars.

Like the Shiek said, grow up.

Timmy, its guys like him that give us young people a bad name, and high insurance premiums.

To Tiny Tim and Iron Shi-at

You guys have it all backwards.....I didn't total the car. Read it again. It only cost $2200. I don't believe that you live in a million dollar home. If you did, you wouldn't brag about it.

You 2 are blowing it WAY outta prportion. I never said I totalled the car. I never bragged about that. Ever. Read it again until you fully understand the "story"? And pecker head? (What kind of middle-school-name-calling is that?) Grow up teenie boy! I am an MB owner.

I never called anyone, anything. Once again, I was just sharing a simple story. A 98 E320....sounds like a hand-me-down from grandpa!! I know that my ML320 is no diamond in the rough, actually, its just plain out rough and cracked out.

And Tiny Tim, a C230K (K...ooooohhhh supercharger!!) is just another 2.3 liter 6 cyclinder, 192hp poos poos. Thats nothing to brag about either.

I loved the CLK. That car was nearly in my garage until my lawyer told me not to accept the offer.

Suddam Hussein.....thats too much dude.....that too much!

IT'S JUST A REAL LIFE STORY! I'M SORRY THAT YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING INTERESTING TO TALK ABOUT. GET OUT MORE!!:o

DRIFT?

Do you guys know what a drift is? Apparently not. Just look it up. It would save you a lot of trouble posts. It's actually a racing term but I'll let you do the homework. Ever heard of "Panoz"? They are handbuilt in Altanta, GA. There is a driving school here which is taught by the Panoz Racing team. I prefected my racing skills there. Look it up too and try it.

As far as the insurance. Geographical location ALWAYS dictates insurance rates. My rates are higher because I live in the biggest city in the south. Which mean there are more wrecks, stolen cars and vandalism. That would make insurance rates rise. Don't you think?

The jokes on you my friend. How can you sit there and say that a Mercedes is a touring car? Thats pretty embarrsasing. Do you know what AMG stands for? I guess the CL, SL, and E55 are all "touring" cars. Hit the books!!!

Ummm I'm missing something, the damage you describe would be more than $2200.

$300 USD = $450 CND, thus your insurance is double mine, which I doubt is a good reflection of just where you live.
I have never crashed either one in the 2 and a half years since I've owned them and I have not had a speeding ticket.
Why did you have to state "since", is that because you have a periously bad driving record?
Do you guys know what a drift is?
I know what "drift" is buddy, but you said "sick drift" and I assumed you meant it wasn't a good car at handling it, but you meant just a wild ride... my mistake.
If you're going to drive it like a race car, then you should foot the bill just like any racing team that slams their car into a barrier.

So i took it. it ain't no E430 or E55 but it still gets me around!

Taylor,

I also bent the AMG rim. All the parts were at dealer cost which is about 66% less than what a normal person would pay. I was suprised it cost that much. I will send you a copy of the repair order if you would like.

The "sick" and "wicked" did mean "great". I guess that my jargon is different than the normal Canadian dialect.

I have not crashed a car before although I did back into someone at Dairy Queen. No biggie, I gave the guy cash and he scampered. The word since meant that I have not crash my current cars.

Why would you need to quote what I said? I can read.

Do you understand the story yet? It's supposed to be horrid with an uplifting twist. I guess you could get past the horrid.

Take it easy, mon

We've all made boners before. As long as people fess up and take responsibility and realize it was a boner, everything's cool. But $300/mth is a but much. You should shop around.

I have shopped around but it was a while back. I'm just going to hold out until I get rid of my ML.

I talked to my lawyer today. He told me that they have sent a response and that I am now in a "discovery" period in which Mercedes sends papers for me to fill out and basically gather information about my views and opinions on my car. I hope to get something else very soon.
