CLK55 bully
I've had a 2002 CLK 430 Cabrio for approx. 5 years now, but ended picking up a 2002 CLK 55 Cabrio just yesterday. To be honest, I've never been happy with the performance of the CLK 430, I lost to chicks in 5.0 Mustangs bad, real bad!
Anyway, on to the kill story from less than an hour ago between my CLK 55 Cab and a silver CLS 55.
We were at a light on a moderately busy downtown street. I was stopped first, the CLS 55 was originally behind me, but decided to turn into the right lane knowing that a little ways beyond the light there were parked cars in his lane.
This douche bag, stops his car approx. 1/4 of a car length ahead of me at the light. He looks over his shoulder with a smirk on his face as if he was going to get by me beyond the parked cars.
I immediately turn off the traction control and when the light turned green, we both didn't floor it right away, we both rolled, and it seemed that at almost the exact same time, we both nailed it, all I could hear were tires chirping from both of us. Anyway, we sort of ran even as we made it almost past the lights, but I started pulling very very slightly on him. He then had to slam his brakes or he'd hit me or the parked cars.
THE BEST PART....
Knowing how there are tons of cops patrolling the downtown streets, I immediately look for the 1st right turn that I can make and take it as we made a ton of noise and some people on the sidewalks actually moved out of the way in case we crashed. I didn't want to get nailed for Racing as that's a serious charge around here.
As I'm doing my detour (a few turns onto streets), I was a little nervous and saw two cruisers basically drive by in front of me - this was several streets away from the original scene. I was a little scarred, but really should not have been.
As I doubled back and took a parallel one way street to the one that we raced on (I had to head that way to get home), I can see clearly across the park, a silver CLS in front of a cruiser with the cherries on and two other cops on horses. Don't know what happened or if it was the same guy (it must have been, but I could only make out the car) but if it was he deserved whatever ticket he was getting

I guess that the older CLK 55's don't get much respect out there.
One thing that I noticed between the CLK 430 vs the CLK 55 is the lack of "Lag" when you hit the pedal in the CLK 55. It just seems to respond right away. I can't believe that approx. 67 HP (275hp vs 342hp) makes that much of a difference!
I love this "new" "used" car!

Any idea where I can shed weight on the Cabrio? I've read that it's 360 lbs heavier than the coupe and is a full second slower 0-60 due to that. That seems like alot - 1 sec.
So anyone know what the official 0-60 speed is for a 2002 clk 55 coupe and cabrio?
Search numbers are inconsistent from 4.9 - 5.5 for the 2002 CLK 55 coupe? What is it?

and on the note of passing E500s... I passed one this morning... windows down, panorama roof open... it was parked in my driveway though... I was on foot
Also this one guy actually bet me $ because he had a manual 350z. Well he couldnt drive so I got the $
BTW if I really wanted a manual car I would get it in a heartbeat.

Not to mention that I am still in school and yet to move on to masters degree.
I'm also sorry to say that you're full of it if you think an Auto 5speed Z is as quick as a 6 speed. Fact of the matter is shorter ratios + clutch = faster acceleration period. Not to mention that you have a higher drive train loss with an automatic transmission. Hence you're making less power at the wheels. You know what? I don't even see a reason telling you this seeing its going to go right over your head anyway. Keep on "passing" cars in your Slow slushbox benzo's.
Time to quit bench racing you fool, half the guys on this forum already know you're a tool, don't make it worse.

Tell that to all the AMG guys
You are so ignorant about 350zs so dont even go there. I had reall life experiences with them. So stick to your Audis. BTW if you make as much $ as my Supervisor postion. Why don't you get a decent car?
