slk32 vs 6.0 GTO
But in any case, it's alright, because I'm sure a lot of these guys have some pretty silly hobbies themselves. Not too worried about it.
I bought a GTO, actually. Tell me. Why did you put AMG wheels and badging on a cheap used base model CLK?
Well, $30K cars w/nitrous don't impress me either, particularly when they look like Cavaliers.
Sad that your car is as boring looking as you claim ours are. But oh, it's an AMG so that makes it all better. Right?
Neither are Rolexes or Patek Phillipes.....but some folks like them, and, unlike cars, they appreciate.....
Check out my arm, I'm wearing like seven Breitlings right now. On the other arm are my Rolexes. I am super pimped out so that other people will know how rich I am.
I did. Running your modded POS against a stock AMG proves nothing. And so far you've said nothing to counter this.
Wasn't even a subject I spoke to, actually. But I guess it's easier to attack what I HAVEN'T said than anything I have, right?
But if you want to engage in a pure debate, engage: what relevance does how fast your car is have to the topic of this thread? I maintain that you chimed in only because your fragile ego was threatened by your beloved Mulletmobile going down to an AMG.
I'll anxiously await your answer.
Anyway, your admin has loaded me up with about a hundred infractions, so I'll leave the party.
It was nice of him to step in for you. Later.

Nice try at twisting and obfuscation, but my original point-that a modded car that I could easily afford isn't impressive, especially a fugly Pontiac-still stands. If I wanted one, I would have one, simple as that.
Try the Honda forums if you want to impress someone with your Pontiac.
Wow you are not to bright are you
That is what I said, I may be able to buy any car I want BUT I choose a more modest vehicle because I dont believe in flaunting my money or any stigmas attached.

Damn bro, just don't know when to quit? Both Improviz and I bought our W208 CLK55 new (not that it matters), but it goes to the point that your GTO was purchased used.
Another hypocrite owns HIMSELF!

"I feel the need to say that I realize that it might seem like I'm suddenly all "GTO'S RULE, EVOs and STIs SUCK ANYWAY, YO!" but I'm really not.
I examined all the options available to me right now, and I just really don't want to pay what either of those cars are going for right now. So, to me that makes a testdrive kinda pointless at this point. The GTO I'm looking at buying this afternoon is about three grand cheaper than the cheapest Evo I could find(which was about three grand cheaper than the cheapest STi I could find). This GTO is a really good deal for me financially. Not to mention, it's got like fifteen grand on the clock, and almost two years of life on the warranty, which is more than I could say for ANY of the Evos/STis to found within two hundred miles of here on Autotrader.
Also, I browbeat them into giving me two grand over blue-book for my car, and giving me a little under blue-book for the GTO.
Now that ain't too bad."

2 But allow me to explain, since this irony is obviously flying so far above your head that you cannot even hear its wings flap:
1. you say you have the money to buy any car you want
2. you then say that you don't want to "look like a stuck up rich liberal", thus using "rich" in a perjorative (look it up) fashion.
3. I point out the irony, namely that if you are, in fact, rich, then it's rather interesting that you use "rich" in a perjorative fashion.
There, is that clearer now? If not, please let me know and I'll rewrite it in one- and two-syllable words.

But hey, wow, google sure is cool.

Even better is the fact that you brag about sucking up the instant depreciation hit your cars took the instant you drove those ugly pieces of garbage off the lot. But hey, that's the sign of a SMART rich person! Keep running the non-logic train, man. You're doing great.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
"Yeah, ultimately, I think that's why I kept changing cars so rapidly. Because I just didn't want to look back on my younger years and think about all the nice cars I'd wished I'd had.
So, my car list to date is:
- Old third gen F-body which was a Pace car for one of the NASCAR races. Never ran right. Traded it in for...
- 1973 Super Beetle. Baby blue, black top, no radio, but man, it was a fun little beater, got me through first two years of high school. Then...
- 1997 Geo Metro. Bought it new after the Beetle started having engine problems. It was a great little car, owned it for like five years, it carried me through my first AA degree. Then, I'd gotten a little money put together and was about to look around when my parents decided they wanted to trade me my Metro for their...
- 2001 Mercury Sable. At least, I think it was an 01. Can't recall. Anyway, Dad had wanted my Metro for his work commute, and since I lived like two minutes from my own job, I said sure, and drove it around for awhile.
- 1999 Camaro Z28. I eventually gave them their Sable back, which they then sold. I immediately started looking around for a used F-body and all I could find at the time was this car. If it'd been a stick, I'd probably still be driving it today. As is, Xtine expressed interest in it, so I sold it to her, and then got...
- 2003 SVT Cobra. Car was ****ing AWESOME. I don't need to go on about it. However, I realized that it was more money than I wanted to be spending on car. I didn't mind the high monthly payments, it was the insurance, and more specifically the gas I didn't want to keep paying for. Screw you Ascona. So I sold it to a dealer who specializes in Cobras/Mustangs etc.
- 2002 Mini Cooper S. They had it on the lot at the Cobra place, so I figured I'd check it out. Thought maybe it'd make a really neat tuner car. So I got it, and it was indeed fun to drive, but I started missing the power of my past two V8 RWD cars. There aren't many corners in Florida, as I've stated here countless times in the past. It's just hard to go from having guys who are driving other fast cars, nod at you when you all pull up a light, to not being noticed or just getting walked by even stock WRX's at a light. LAME. Plus, the "tuning" was up to a point. I did all the mods that were decently affordable, before hitting a wall where **** started costing $800 to $1000 a pop. Like, $900 just for an intercooler that does little more than net you cooler running at top speed? $850 for ECU tuning that will net you like twenty more horses? I just didn't want to put that much money into the car. So, this afternoon, it looks like I'll be replacing it with...
2004 GTO. Write-up when I get it."

Again, all you're doing is proving that your reading comprehension is really poor. Check the timestamps on when those posts were made. Yeah, that's what I thought.
Oh, wait. I'm sorry, you were trying to insinuate that if I could afford a better car, then why don't I have one, yes?
A point, that in the making can be turned right around on you. So, you and Improv here drive cars that can be had for fourteen or fifteen grand. Why aren't you both driving brand new AMG cars? I mean, you're both exceptionally super rich, right?
Right? Hello?
Yes, I have the title.
Why would someone who could buy a brand new Z06 and pay cash for it be driving a cheap old car?
Just a simple question.
This is why you really shouldn't be talking right now, because all I'm seeing from you, is a lot of mouth from a guy who drives a car that used, costs less than mine does.
Not exactly the pinnacle of rich-peopledom, is it?

As well, I couldn't possibly still have the GTO over a Corvette or somesuch because I LIKE THE CAR, no that couldn't be a possibility at all.
At this point, your attempts at grasping at straws are old.
But when they drive really cheap old cars that used to be expensive, you'll forgive me for laughing. It's even more amusing when the best excuse you have is "Well...well maybe we LIKE the car! DUH!"
Really? Because the newer AMG's outperform your old cheapo cars in absolutely every aspect.
It stands to reason that someone who is crowing about his wealth would be driving a better car. But that's just me.
In fact, I had to notice that the two people who kept this thread going on the MB side were you two Cheapo MB Wonders. All the guys that are driving the new, badass AMGs all seem to have left. But then again, those guys have got better things to do than sit around arguing on the internet, right?
That's only what lowly Pontiac GTO and cheap-used "I got it for cheap, but will lie and say I bought it new!!" people do.
I maintain my earlier comment. You two are the guys that probably make forty or fifty grand a year, and were able to swing the payment on a heavily depreciated old car, that WAS expensive when new, but you guys got 'em used. And then you're those two guys we all have at work who are like "Didja see my new BENZ? That's right, I drive a BENZ! It's AMG! That stands for "Awesome!"
So hey, maybe I WILL sell my GTO. At this point, I could sell it, buy the car YOU have, and still have mod money left. That's a sweet plan. Let me go buy a super depreciated old AMG, and then I'll be cool like you guys, and then when other people come in here, I'll talk down to them because I'm one of the cool AMG elite, despite the fact my cool super awesome AMG car cost less than a new Civic.
That will be cool.

I think you're just pissy that my car (which is also silver with a black interior by the way) not only looks better, but is ridiculously faster than yours. Oh well. But hey, speaking of detective skills, you should go find some more stuff I said over two years ago and try to act like it's in any way applicable to my current financial, social, or automotive situation.
After you, Columbo.
Edited: Actually, as I'm now bored with Improv, you're also pretty tired. The amusement factor for me is done, so I won't be back on this board. Go high-five all your boys driving cheap depreciated cars, because I would bet dollars to donuts that all the guys here who actually ARE well-heeled enough that they're driving the latest AMGs (all of which are awesome machines, incidentally) are probably rolling their eyes at the both of us, which is why they left.
So it's time I went back to my own board, where we don't have people trying to pretend to be rich and getting butthurt when they get called on it.
Later.

When a rich person flaunts their wealth I do look at it in a PEJORATIVE way!
