C230K vs. 325Ci

So through about 5 stop signs, the guy in the 325 keeps trying to challenge me. It was only about 50 yards between stop signs, so I didn't do anything. At the last stop sign where we would get to an open area, we looked at each other and both took off. Was't even close. He was at my bumper at 30mph. I backed off at 60 and let him catch up. Side by side at 40, he guns it again. Big mistake against a C-Coupe! He gets about a car length on me, then I hit my kickdown button and the s/c comes up. By 50, he was offmy back bumper. I went by him like he was sitting still. I gave up at 80, and he was 3-4 car lengths back. It was about the 4th or 5th 325/328 I've taken. As soon as I get my pulley (c'mon UPS-bring it today!), I want to try a 330Ci. Should be a pretty even match up.
BTW-this was done on open roads, no other cars even close.

I don't know if the 325Ci was an auto or manual. The tint was so dark I could barely tell it had a driver. My coupe is an auto, but you can shift wherever you want (and fairly quick) with just a slight lift on the gas. I normally try to do it at about 5k. But if you look at the numbers, a coupe should take a 325 either way.I know there are other factors like gear ratios, but it's difficult to overcome this:

325Ci-3197 lb. / 184 hp / 175 tq. (numbers are from edmunds)
C230K- 3305 lb. / 203 / 218 tq. (numbers are from my dyno the day before)

So I was giving up about 100 lb., but ahead on hp/tq by 19/43!

so, you have an engine dyno?????

and the car was definitely an auto if you waxed it that badly.

Yep! Pulled the engine and bench tested it. Obviously, it was a chassis dyno...Even if you use the reported #'s of 192/200 vs. 184/175, the MB comes out ahead (all other things being equal-which they aren't). Auto vs. auto, MB would win. Auto MB vs. Manual BWM, it should be a dead heat. I think the guy just looked over and saw the 'cheap' MB and thought he could take me.

325ci is a cheap bmw anyway. anything below the 330 is not a real bimmer.
