S55 vs BMW M3 (e46)
I recently had an interesting run in with a BMW M3, Convertable e46. (Looked to be around 2004). For reference, my S55 is the 2001 with 355hp.
Now, we didn't line up, but I stayed behind him for most of the time and at times I backed off due to some wet ground.
He would gain on me very slowly over 80 or so, is that about how it should be? He would just slightly start to move ahead when I was following him.
My car's quarter mile time is around 13.9, and I read that the convertable M3 is around 13.7, so that seems about right in terms of what he gained on me - or anyone else have anything to share about this?
One thing though, he can definitely maneuver and handle better than my car! Sounded cool too full throttle.

sounds about right....convs are much heavier (300-400lbs) than their fixed roof siblings, especially along the relatively torque-light M-series cars...

Yeah, I know the convertables are heavier. They handle very well though! He was able to move it nicely and fluidly, even if the straight line speeds weren't as strong.
stupid question but how do you guys compute time to car length. been wanting to know this ever since!

svt ricco, I think generally .1 tenth of a second will equal about 1 car length, so .7 tenths should be 7 car lengths. Its hard to judge this stuff sometimes, always better to see a drag race!
