So I'm cruising along just minding my own business (usually ~80-85) on the freeway (not in the fast lane cuz it's not nice when you're going slow)..

Every idiot in a Nissan Altima wants to ride your ***? Also noticed the following with a fair degree of frequency:

1. BMW (Bimmer, Beemer, whatever) owners all want to pass you at 100+ then cut in front of you to slow down to 70-75 when you're just chuggin along?

2. Lexus Owners: Ricers with a job?

3. Audi Owners: for the most part are pretty cool.. just cruise on by but are friendly.

4. Cadillac CTS / CTSV - similar to BMW owners, but have a need to be noticed by you even more?

5. Harley / Cafe Bike owners: Overwhelming need to pull up next to you and make lots of noise then take off dog slow like they're actually fast?

6. Street Bike (Crotch Rocket) and (Ducatis): Ignore me.. (but definitely more respectful than Harley / Cafe Bikers).. Cool overall.

7. Vettes: Worst of em all.. (See Cadillac Guys and Multiply by 10).

Most of the time when someone rides up my ***, I just bring up the rear privacy screen until they get off my ***.

Sometimes, I just slam the gas, blow by them, put about 1/2 - 3/4 mile between us, hit the hazards for 3 blinks, then get back into my lane and return to putt putt along mode..

Just wondering if it's just me or if we all have to endure this idiocy. How do you handle it?

When I had my SL(s), it was never an issue.. nobody messes with me.. (Also helps to have an AMG / Brabus insignia).. lol.

Yeah.. that's why I posted.. Seems like I always get the winners on the road.. Sadly, I'm usually just driving normal-ish.. Probably the fact that I don't look anywhere near my age.. **sigh**

Just wondering if anyone else gets it like I do.. Seems to happen every time I drive on the freeway.

I know what you mean, but I have to admit that I also drive like a douche on the highway most of the time. I'll fly by people ~100 mph, however I wait until I have good distance between myself and the car I'm passing until I signal in and keep on proceeding at the speed I am. I'll admit though that if there is a slow driver in front of me, I'll ride him like crazy and move to the left side of the lane to make sure the driver sees me in his mirrors so that he knows I'm behind him.
I used to drive a Lexus and drove the same exact way. Luckily I don't drive a BMW or else I'd probably be hated in my town lol

Don't get me wrong.. I'm all for safe fly-bys.. It's just that I'm usually the guy that's putting along in the middle lane with traffic or around ~80-ish.. Not in the fast lane.. not holding traffic up. Seems like I just get messed with all the time.. lol..

I just seem to be a magnet for it. Normally, I wouldn't care, but when I have my little girl in my car with me and some douche is just messing with me it really gets me.. I was wondering if there was something I could be doing differently to avoid the situation when my daughter is in the car.. (I never do anything with her in the car). I've even tried going 5 above the limit in the slow lane, but the reality is the slow lane is one of the most dangerous lanes on a freeway (with all the merging of incoming and outgoing traffic).

Get me when I'm alone and I'm always up to play when it's safe.

Do you find that it changes depending on which car you are driving? I had a lot of this when I had turbo DSMs and my Miata, but am surprised that my AMGs space is more respected. An occasional Cayman S, M3 or Vette flyby-but nowhere near what I would get in a riceburner.

Definitely.. When I'm driving the S550, I get it from pretty much the whole list. When I'm driving an SL, nothing.. Vettes usually pull up next to me and give me a thumbs up or the driver just smiles.. I usually compliment them on their car. (I always loved them, but can't stand the way they drive). Nobody bothers me in the A8. Just seems to be some stigma with the S550. Harley Riders seem to just be annoying overall. Cafe Bikes are unbearable. I will say that people with really loud stereos feel the overwhelming need to pull up next to me and just turn up the bass. Still can't figure out what the S550 does to cause this. Weird.

Oh.. almost forgot.. S55 and S63 drivers feel the overwhelming need to pull in front of me so I can see their badge. It's weird.. When I'm sporting Brabus nomenclature, nobody messes with me at all. Even the R10s and Porsches.

I guess it's a pride of ownership thing. It just seems to happen most when I'm in the S550. I guess it pulls out the inner "douche" in us all.. lol.

Well I get hondas that like to challenge me on the interstate on I-5. If they are in a nice car, and they challenge me they are always from CA here on the west coast.

When I'm on the road I've also noticed the ones driving the S55 as slow drivers. Not really sure why you guys are so slow, I guess non AMG owners are people that don't care. Personally I like using my cars. Nothing better then stepping on the gas and listening to my supercharger, but I drive fast all the time and normally don't interfere with anyone unless they are chugging along in the let lane.

Y'all are lucky you can drive that fast on your freeways. I'm lucky if I can hit 20mph on the freeways here. Even late at night it's hard to go faster then 80mph with all the traffic. It seems like 80% of the cars are toyotas/hondas/nissans and they all drive insanely slow, and they especially like to go 65 in the fast lane. For some reason I've never had anyone try to challenge me.
