03 CL55 vs New Mustang GT 5.0

I had just got off the freeway on the way to the office when I go to the last major intersection before my parking garage. I pulled up to the red light and noticed a Mustang GT on my left and an open lane on my right. Didn't think much about it until just before the light changed. I took of they way I normally do, not really aggressive or anything and I hear the Mustang rev his engine. He got right next to me so I decided to give it a bit more gas. That's when he responded by flooring it. He was about a fender length ahead of me when I decided to go full throttle. I pulled away slowly until I had about a half a car length on him. My AMG just held 3rd gear and when his Mustang when to shift, the game was over and he was done. When I realized how fast we were going I let off the gas and just coasted to my exit off the parkway. The Mustang passed me still at WOT, I guess in his mind, we weren't done yet LOL. When we got into the business park and were side by side we both looked up and lauged, nodded and turned our separate ways.

Enjoyed your story. I just picked up a CLK 63 and have been avoiding a collegue who drives a modded 5L Mustang. I don't doubt the advantage AMG provides but I'm not really interested in the "fastest car in the company" moniker. Best to live vicariously on that one. Nice kill

Thanks. Had fun with that one. It's not something I do often. I've backed away from more challenges than I can imagine. If I don't know the road or there's traffic, I don't even think about it. The conditions were perfect for this one so I did it. I actually saw the same car the following morning. He pulled up next to me a nodded. Was tempting to do it again but there was traffic this time so we didn't.

Fun! Good one. The 5.0 hung in there pretty good.

those 5L coyote motors are pretty serious. Bone stock they make 400whp and an intake/tune easily adds another 40whp. Supercharge or turbo it and on low boost they make mid 5's to the tire...all w/out cracking open a valve cover.
