Both of those videos rock, and this is coming from a Ford guy; however, if I was wanting an all out 1/4 car I would still pick the Cobra.

Some of you may have read the articles where they take the Kenne Bell blower (another couple grand) and take off the stock Eaton blower and with a nice exhaust system and proper tune make 700 RWHP, dependably.

Now for a daily driver I would love the E55.

real street racing. that's what it's all about. lining up, harnessing all your machine's power, and let it go for a 1/4 mile. brings back the memories.... not to mention the great filming and editing. great job!!!

 

I dunno, apparently this video is making rounds on other boards, including a few Mustang boards I lurk on. Just about everyone is saying the Mustang driver can't drive. I dunno, I think the final run he drive pretty well and simple got beaten due to racing a faster car. The first one he did fishtail a little. Any chance of that guy getting a re-rematch?

 

That was the rematch, he had already lost twice before.

 

I know, I know... But the Mustang folks aren't happy about it. I don't know if it made it to Stangnet or not. Anytime the Great Pony looses I guess its due to a bad driver.

Actually you're right, cost doesn't have much to do with speed...because I toasted an SLK320 in my Trans Am, which costs more than my car. It felt like I was racing a Celica

let me guess, the TA's only purpose in life is to drag on the streets or run 1/4 miles? hmm.....what would i rather have, an SLK 320 or a 95 TA? I'm sure that most people buying mercedes don't have the mindset of buying a car solely on what it can run in the quarter.......u know what? i'm going to sell my car and get a Dodge Omni modded to run 10's. Why? cause i'd be a retard to buy a car worth over 10 times more that isn't faster.

HELLO! It's one thing if lose to another car, but it's another thing to blame the loss on the other car being more expensive.

Stop trying to make excuses for the cheaper car. You can play the opposite side and say "I can't believe your 2 door "sports" car lost to a 4 door luxury sedan". Whatever car is faster, wins. No excuses.

 

Okay, I'll try to stop the whole "this car costs more argument." Perhaps I should have just said that a stock Cobra is nowhere near in the same league as the E55. It's for that reason that I don't understand why everyone is getting so excited over watching an E55 beat a Mustang. I know the SLK320 isn't one of the fast Benzes, which is why I posted about how I destroyed one before, because I think it's analogous to an E55 beating a Cobra (ie one car is obviously much more powerful and faster than the other). As for the argument "I can't believe your 2 door sports car lost to a 4 door luxury sedan,"--that isn't applicable to me since I've never lost to a 4-door car, or even a 2-door for that matter. I've lost some with my STS and BMW, but none in my TA.

 

...is its straightline speed as a function of cost. By this measure, anyone who isn't driving a '75 Vega with a twin turbo 350 under the hood is driving an overpriced POS, lol...

Some people just don't get it.

 

If it really did dyno with 450 *rwhp* as the films suggest, then for a stock E55 to beat it 4/4 times is, to put it mildly, impressive. Anyone whose judgement was not clouded by jealousy and envy could see this.
