Tuned s65 vs modded c6 z06......
I had the chance to finally get these two cars out on some safe open road In Mexico recently and the results might surprise some of you. The 65 has a Eurocharged tune and makes 600rwhp/845rwtq and the Z has a mayhem 2 cam, cai, full exhaust/headers and it made 565rwhp/525rwtq.
We ran them several different times at various speeds......the Z came around the 65 pretty bad when starting anywhere between 20-70 mph, but it was a different story from a dig and from 80mph +. From a dig the Benz had an easy 2-3 lengths on me before I shifted to second ( I'm naturally in the vette) and it wasn't a easy task to make up that real estate. It was cold, the vettes light and hard as hell to launch without roasting the tires. I didn't come around my brother ( driving the 65) until I was nearly at the top of 3rd. ...... Granted, I came around him pretty bad, but it took me until about 100mph to do it.....a lot faster than you'd do in many street races.
.
The Benz really shined from about an 80-85 roll which isn't a preferred starting speed for the vette. I gave the 65 the move and I wasn't able to make any headway until about 150 or so, and even at that speed I was making minimal progress. We had to get out of it at about 160, but I would have loved to see the result had we had the chance to get them up to 190 or so. Keep in mind my Z makes about 100rwhp more than a stocker. I think with a bone stock Z the results would have been much different.
Just this afternoon I ran a guy in a z06 at a stop light while driving the 65.....he tried desperately to run me down after i put 2 on him outta the hole- and was unsuccessful before we had to brake at about 90-100 mph. I think I surprised the s*it outta him.....but he did manage a thumbs up as we braked.
. And I had 3 suitcases and a full (full size) cooler in the trunk, and my girlfriend in the car ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
We saw 185mph in the Benz and 173 in the Z that day.....running them separately merely looking to achieve top speed- We weren't close in either one before having to get out of it - both wold do 200mph given enough distance.
Full respect for the 5400lb big body. It's wicked fast, luxurious, reliable, under warranty, comfortable and will out run about 80-90% of any street car out there....effortlessly.
Thought some of you gents might enjoy that bit of info![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Amazing what a 4 door twin turbo 65 can do
.
I would have actually thought you would have kept your edge with a 60-130 race due to the huge difference in torque. Weight is obviously the evil enemy.
Hell of a sleeper you have.
Too bad you did not have a go-pro.

What kind of times does the s65 run ? I have looked at those since you can get one for upper 20s low 30s. I thought I read before they trap in the 128-130 range with tune. I would have thought the Z06 would trap a bit higher than that. I would imagine the 80-150 MPH is pretty insane on that S65. Bone stock they go to 150 MPH in 22 seconds. Turbos are so freaking efficient with higher speeds. Equally impressive is the braking 70-0 in 154 ft. Wonder what upgraded turbos would do in that beast.....
FYI its "only" 5,080 lbs =) damn I would love to have that setup in our E55s. tune only and trap well into the 130s....

In my 600 rwhp 565 rwtorque c6 z06 I usually pull harder on people as speeds get higher as my car in lightened to 3,000 and the aerodynamics of the car make it fast
