A45 AMG vs. CLS 550 Shooting Brake
Yesterday I had the chance to do a few quick runs with my CLS 550 Shooting Brake vs. an A 45 AMG of my local dealership. Both cars are stock and we both had each one passenger on board.
First run was from 40-150 mph. The A45 got a jump start (approximately up to 1s plus a downshift of my CLS), and started to pull me. However, as soon as the CLS was also on WOT, the distance between both cars remained constant up to 120 mph, when the CLS actually began to overtake the A45. Above 120 mph the X218 was significantly faster than the A45 - even tough it had a jump start, as I said.
Second run was also from 40 to ~155 mph. The A45 got a jump start by 0,5s. This time, I was in the correct gear, so the CLS 550 started pulling from the beginning. The faster we went, the more it pulled away. From 40-125 approximately 2-3 car lengths.
However - I would not try to compete with the A45 on a winding back road...man, that thing is a blast to drive there!
