Is this a kill? Or just cruelty?
We pull up to a red light behind a new BMW 530i. There is a short "passing" lane at this intersection on the right side where folks are generally seen as jerks for jumping in front of the other when they get in this lane.
I challenge my buddy to get in the right lane and pass the BMW. Yep, I'm a jerk. He complies, but our car is turned at a 30 degree angle because there isn't enough room for us to get straightened out.
The BMW takes off not wanting us to be jerks and pass him in this right hand "passing" lane. What I really think is that he felt like he had a hot new car and was going to show this "E" series what he had. Since he hadn't seen our badge, he probably thought we were an E320 or maybe even an E500.
My co-worker out of instinct hits it - a little late since he didn't know he was racing. The E55 does a nice "chirp" and ROCKETS past the 530i after being behind in about 200 yards.
As we fly by (and I mean FLY!), I see the passengers in the BMW laughing at the driver who sees the E55 AMG now in his front window.
Okay. I know it was no contest. But it was fun.
My car's first kill? Or just arrogant cruelty?
