What will a supercharger do to a 350 and a 454?

Whipple claims bout 100 peak HP to either engine. The real jump is in the low and midrange. I had one on my 93 and then another on my 99 Suburban. It was a kick to see the surprised look on other driver's faces when they got smoked by a 5800# behemoth!

I decided against putting one on my 02 Denali after I raced my buddy's Whipplecharged 00 Suburban. He pulled me off the line but at speed, he couldn't shake me. I just traded it for an 04 and I still don't think I'm going to do it. If I can get another 30-40 HP with bolt-ons, the truck will be perfect without a pump.

Yeah, I think in '97'ish Chevy put a non restricted Vortec system on their 4 wheel drive units with the 350 and 454. That was the only year according to the owner of one of these vehicles.

Can't beat the 'ole pushrod 16 valve OHV small block 350 V8 engine. Tough animal. Just look at the Corvette Z06! It can blow the doors off many exotic multivalve racers and still get up to 28 mpg with its 6 gear overdrive transmission! And its seems to still be simple to get under the hood to fix something(OHV again. Very nice fit into the engine bay).

I believe the first version of the 350 came out in the mid '50's. Now THAT is a long lived engine production range!

127 mph, huh? Sheesh... Watch that gas gauge.. The 454 truck we have has a speedometer that only reads up to 85 mph, so I'd never know.

Yeah - GEN III small block is increadible. It really doesn't share much with GEN II. Even though it is a 5.7, it's only 345 CI. The bore and stroke are totally different. GEN I was introduced in the 55 Vette as a measly 265 CI motor. Today, they build 427 CI small blocks. Some guys even get 454 CI out of a specially modified small block. Talk about a SLEEPER!

Suburbans back in 96 used to have 15" wheels, as you can see I have 17" wheels, now you know why....because I agree with you on the ugly part.

Yes 2WD, it had the tow package but no LSD
I like the new Denali, and the fact that it is AWD (not 4WD).

Drive one and you'll be hooked. I drive my new Denali 1500 miles a month and about 100 in both Mercedes combined! I love it.

When I worked at the Hummer Dealer they sold GMC vehicles as well, I test drove the Denalis as well, very nice and very very nice suspension (much better than my upgraded Suburban suspension). I just can't afford to be hooked in any vehicle right now.
