I wonder how a 575M would fair up beside an SL55? Probably tie?

Showdown On Wilshire Blvd Sl55 V 360 Spyder
Ever since i got my sl55 i have wanted to do 1 thing ... race a ferrari. well i finally got my chance. I finally picked up my car from the body shop (just added lorinser rims and bodykit . will post pics soon) and i pulled up next to this yellow 360 spyder. the guy driving looked like a young dot comer, and he had a real good looking girl next to him. of course we know whay the yellow ferrari means ... hes lacking something in his pants. anyway we get up to the light and i tell him i always wanted to race a ferrari. Being an ignorant guy he laughs and said "you think your mercedes could keep up with my ferrari?" anyway he revs up his car with a big smile on his face and when the light turned green we both punched it. usually when i punc my car, the wheels skid out, the slip control turns on and it starts up again. i guess since i put on band new 305 tires on my car, it just took off. i ended up killing the ferrari by one full car length 
. lets just say he didnt have a smile on his face when he caught up at the next red light. its just a shame i didnt get a chance to talk to the girl he was with. she would have looked real nice in the sl.

Sweet kill, I would have loved to see the look on his face, better yet, listen to him cussing as he lost, then the excuses he made to the girl why he got beat by a Mercedes!

you just completed my dream...thats sooooo crazy im so envious right now.
where on wilshire did you race? was it by the two golf courses right before entering beverly hills? that has to be one of the nicest places to race when there isn't too much traffic.
it would have been nice to get the girl in your SL but smoking the ferrari is enough.

had similar encounter one night on woodward ave. right before the dream cruise......2 guys in a red 360 modena. from a stop and roll, carlength and 1/2 to 85. both in their mid 30's. they were not happy campers.......but my 2 passengers were

I dont street race very often, but when these great oppourtunties arise you gotta take advantage of them. Even though i know a Modena is faster, i've always wanted to race one in my C32, just to see what would happen. Great kill, People have to start respecting the power of AMG

you really do have to take advantage of it when you have a chance to race. i tried to race another ferrari, but the guy was too old and said that "he doesnt race and even if he did race he wouldnt race a mercedes because they are slower" i wish i could have made him eat his words someway, but even when i tried speeding up, he just went the speed limit. what a waste ... people like that should stick to a lower level of a car like a bmw, not a ferrari or any amg

I find it interesting that you beat the 360 with a set of 20" lorinsers.. Im sure those rims are very heavy, i would have figured the car to be a bit slower off the line due to the added weight.

Of course, the 360 will beat the SL55 around a track: it wasn't designed for drag racing. Also note that in the drag race mentioned in this thread, the SL55 has an extra 98hp and almost double the torque (it is supercharged after all...) compared with the normally-aspirated 360.
Edit: I also forgot to mention that the 360 is basically a 5 year old design; created before the hp wars of today had really taken shape, so you can't really blame it for being "underpowered." Hopefully the 360 replacement with have a power increase of 50 - 100hp using a V10.

i would have thought the same about the rims, but i literally put the tires on a couple hours befor the race. there was absolutely no slip when i took off with the 20's. when i would try to take off before i put on the rims, the car would always skid before it actually took off. i guess once my tires are worn out (which should be in a couple thousand miles the way i drive) the weight of the rims should play more of a factor than it did when i first got it. if im wrong please correct me.
