ML430 vs Durango

he has a Dodge Durango SLT with cold air induction.. and i was in my stocker than stock ML430

we did the quarter mile... he kept getting me off the line.. this was my first time actually racing my car

first time he beat me by half a car length.. the second time by 1 car length

i gotta practice my start... i would floor it but it doesnt respond for about a second.. enough for him to get a better start.. and i didnt use the touch shift.. would i of done better if i used touch shift?

Try flooring the gas with your foot on the brake, then letting off the brake. That should take care of the response delay.

I read an article about a Kleemann ML55, they had some troble torque braking. Something in the computer shut the fuel down so the car just bogged instead of accelerating when giving full throttle.

But maybe that was uniqe case of the tuned ML55.

I had the same problem with my jeep, but torque braking solved it for me.
When I raced I just reved to about 1500rpm-1800rpm while braking, then flooring it at the same time as I dropped the brake.

The car was a pretty fast starter:

I dont have any experience of racing with merc speedshift yet, but my impression of the gearbox is that its faster to let it shift itself

I could shifted manually with the jeep, but it always went slower.

Use manual shifting if you wan't to race and you're still have some speed. But in your case let it shift itself.

wouldnt holding the brake and flooring it.. and then letting go of the brake cause hell to the torque convertor? or do some kind of damage to something?

If you hold it for a long time it'll overheat the torque converter. But you only need to hold it for a few seconds, which does no harm.
