Talking HAHAHA... Toyota Corolla

Ok, so I'm on the 110N Fwy. heading Pasadena and this white ricer was tailgating me in the fastlane (I'm doing 70mph), traffic was light, about 88 degrees outside. I gave way by switching lane so that I can continue on listening to my music and just relax. He then catches up and stayed neck to neck with me for about 15 seconds then I noticed on my peripheral vision that the driver was looking at me, so I turn my head and sure enough, he was looking. I looked and simply gave him a grin because I wasn't sure what's up. The driver looks like Antonio Banderas without 3 weeks of sleep and bath. To my surprise he gave me a thumbs up . Of course, I laughed because there's no way his rice cooker could match my mighty ML430 (I think so). I think Antonio got insulted when he saw me laughed, shook my head and snapped my head back to the road to avoid wasting my gas. Then, a few moments later, I heard beep, beep, beep, it was Antonio wanting to test my 280 horses, so I was wtf . I looked at him, gave him a thumbs up and floored it. When I got to 110mph, I slowed down to 70mph, looked in my rear view and saw him about 5 cars behind. It took me probably 5-7 secs. to get to that speed and then when he catch up, he gave me a nod with a smile and he went his merry way. I think his turbo broiler didn't work that time . Oh well, I only race when it's safe.

Later.

just wondering how a "ricer" is supposed to give props to a nice car such as yours.

i've got an 04e320 now, but used to have what you might consider to be a ricer. i used to always give props to nicer cars just about the same way you described in your story. most give a nice nod back...some laugh. i always wonder why someone laughs when another person is trying to give them props.

He nod and gave me props right after I gave it to him not before he honked his horn. I don't think tailgating and giving me a thumbs up would I consider someone giving me props, besides, there are too many good looking cars and trucks in L.A. for someone to give props to my ML.

hmm i see your point. tailgating and honking isn't exactly what i was talking about either. it just sounded like all he did was give you a thumbs up before you let him have it.

Somebody giving me a thumbs up who resembles the guy that MickeyMcD's uses in their ad for the "dollar menu".

Well, I would just take the kudos in embarassment.:o

Thumbs up, sheesh! I got to stay away, from the pimpin' public.:p

Invoke the "****" principle. Take It to the Track, Stupid.

Did I say anything about me being proud? I don't think so. I'm actually ashamed of myself. Now how I wished it was an E55 or E46 .

Like what I've said earlier, here in L.A., ML430's are like stock civics, they are everywhere and they don't get props simply because they are so common. If you're driving a ML and someone gave you a thumbs up, it only meant one thing and it aint props.

I don't care who gave props to who......all I care about is that the ML430 beat someone!!! YES!!!!

keep up the good work. I wouldn't even dream of racing anyone in my big beast. I would be afraid to lose, and afraid of the price of all the gas I would have to replace.

Good job dude.

Thanks for clarifying Stiggs, I thought this was an interrogation forum . Anyway, a kill is a kill.

I guess you're right, I'd rather start with a $17,000 Honda and THEN put another $10-15K into it to make it an 11sec car, that seems like a better investment than buying a $30-40K Benz. Just think, after 2-3 years you could sell that Honda for $12K! Better yet, start with a used $8K Honda and put that $10-12K into it... I bet you could get $6, maybe even $7 thousand dollars to put towards your next 11sec Honda! Wake up mang

Are vraa and I the only people who noticed the 180 lb-ft of torque? I'm sure you're losing a good couple hundred lb-ft at the flywheel right? Thats the problem.
