C43 sedan vs Lexus IS on twisty, wet roads

After the 4th of July flood ended in Houston, I thought it would be a nice time to take the C43 out to test the awd on damp roads. I am in sport mode with traction also set to sport. I practice launching the car several times with the exhaust closed to not annoy the apartments around me.

After I have my fun, I start to head home where there are a number of large turnarounds that you can go around endlessly. I am cruising at 37 mph when a black Lexus IS with his windows down comes flying up to my rear bumper. He had the new style headlights, so I would assume it was a 2015 model or newer.

As I start around the first corner, I realize he is still 2-3 feet off my bumper, so I switch into sport plus and floor it around the first bend. I could feel the traction control keeping the rear on my car from sliding out and in hindsight should have turned off TC completely. I probably put 4 car lengths on him on the first long bend and another 5 on the following straight away as he didn't have the grip or power to keep up. When I slowed back down, he rolled his windows up and would not look over at me.

These mid-tier luxury brand drivers (Lexus, Acura, etc.) seem to like to 'stick it' to us Mercedes guys, and I would assume they do the same to other German cars i.e. BMWs, Audis, etc. Must feel like they have something to prove.

I guess so, I'm assuming he saw the 43 badge and thought, "Well it's not a 63, I can keep up with that." Wrong.

interesting story and timing for your post... i drive an IS as my daily (the w212 is the wife's)... about a month ago hit it along side what i later saw to be a c43 on a 270° freeway entrance ramp that converges into one lane when entering the freeway... started side by side at a light and i had the inside lane, (so slight advantage imo), but the c43 driver gunned it when the light changed so i reacted in kind - the c had about a car length going into the turn of the entrance ramp as the they gunned it off the line and i reacted... squealing tires throughout the 270° turn but we maintained our lanes, had two car lengths on the c when we merged onto freeway, the c was not happy and gunned it to pass in a lane quickly slowing as i eased to match slowing traffic speeds (that's when i noticed make and model - didn't notice if amg or not) - as i merged into the car pool lane and rolled past the c gunned the engine with a loud rumble, lurching the car forward then hit the brakes hard to avoid rear-ending car in front... tires, driver, inside lane, who knows, but the IS often leaves me smiling... and with each of our cars that's all that really matters imo...

11/07/2018 update...
...and just this morning the same result with a hyundai genesis 5.0 with quad exhaust... only this time i was in the outside lane and came out of the turn onto the freeway with a good 4 or 5 car lengths... with the genesis then zooming passed on the shoulder no less (idiot)... i do love that freeway entrance though... #smiles
