Killed an Escalade....

Been a while since I had a chance to "kill" something with my ML 55. Not many peeps go looking for an SUV to race with. Anyway, on my way into the office this morning and this jerk in an Escalade was pacing me, and keeping me behind traffic, totally intentional too. He would pace me at about 80, then I got behind him, and he dropped speed to 65 to keep me back. Well, a few miles of this was starting to get irritating. Soon as there was a gap big enough and safe enough, I dropped into 3rd and moved over into the #3 lane, and back to the #2 lane. Escalade punched it at the same time, even with me going across and back, I was still ahead of him, doin about 80 now. I was going to speed keep him for a mile or so, then he decided to punch it. He got about a half CL ahead of me by the time I punched it. Well, overtook him at about 100, and went into 4th. Pulled steady on him up to about 120 and decided I've made my point. Felt really good, never ran against an Escalade before

Oh yeah, he never came back up to me to try again, went along his merry way and exited a few ramps later.

You gotta know that when a Cadillac Escalade shopper goes to buy one, they are definitely thinking about the claim of "Most Powerful SUV on Earth," ad campaign from a year ago. Of course there are **** and you have to read the fine print, but this was when the Escalade has 345 horses vs. ML55's 342, therefore making it the most powerful SUV at the time. Of course the Escalade drivers think their faster, they were told so. They tend to forget the extra 3 horses is not going to do much having to haul 24" chrome wheels and around another 1000 pounds or so.

Definitely, atleast another 1000 lbs. I dont think their torque is as high as mine either. I think mine is a bit stronger than most 2k ML 55's also, put in new cams rockers and lifters about 20k miles ago, and a new/rebuilt tranny about 3k miles ago. Gonna keep it for a while, maybe SC after I hit 100k, figure, a good part of the engine and tranny are rebuilt. It will be the ultimate sleeper
