YES, it's a Ferrari... a 360 in fact, pulled right up alongside me and revving his engine.
An aside at this point -- those flat-crank V8s sound simply amazing, like a well-tuned motorcycle with a very large engine. He might have had an aftermarket exhaust on the car, although I am not sure. At any rate, it was just a thing of beauty.
Back to the story - either the Ferrari owner had seen the AMG badge and mistaken my SL for an SL55, or he had spotted the "BMWs for Lunch... Ferraris for Dinner" license plate frame. Regardless, it was ON. I pressed the left-side steering wheel button to select optimal gear (3rd), then turned on my interior light and pointed him forward. The Ferrari's engine note changed to a raspy snarl as he gave it full throttle at what must have been 6000-7000 RPM, and the italian exotic surged ahead. As soon as I heard the Ferrari engine note change I nailed the gas, and before he had pulled a full carlength the SL's turbos spooled up to their 25 PSI of RENNtech-specified boost. At this point things happened quickly: (1) 890 ft/lbs of TQ kicked the SL in its ***, (2) there was a moment of wheelspin (at 60 MPH in 3rd!!!) which the traction control dealt with, and then (3) the SL O W N E D the Ferrari. It was truly ugly - within 10 seconds I saw about 140MPH on the speedo, and the Ferrari's lights were at least 6-7 carlengths behind. The acceleration on the SL - with the RENNtech ECUs, half a tank of 100 octane, on a 40F night - is really incredible; I suspect it'd trap 128-129 MPH in the 1/4 if I could get it to hook up. It was certainly FAR faster than the F360, and as I braked back down to quasi-legal speeds the Ferrari was staying a good distance behind me and seemed to have no interest in a rematch.
One of these days I'm going to run into an Enzo. Now THAT would be a race...

Im curious to know if anything was done to the transmission Ben. Im sure that you are aware Mercedes detuned that car because of the transmissions capablitites so Im wondering if anything was actually done to it or if your just hoping it lasts awhile. And did they void your warranty over this?

Why are the stats slower than a stock E55? To 100- this EV12 pulls almost 11, I've seen stock E55s with nothing more than drag tires, pull of 8s... somethings... not right.

But with such stats, isn't that faster than the SL 65 (a lil faster) and it is SLR territory?
Thanks

Yes you are correct, its faster by 2.5-3 seconds than an SL65 and probably equals SLR.
But 230K GBP....on an E-class....nah nah nah nah no.

Murcielago...
0-150: 21.?
E55...
0-150: 19.?
I remember clearly, mostly because everyone was making fun of the Lamborghini. Rude, in my opinion. So your facts are mixed up, or testers for my time f-ed up.

"EV12 an trockenen Tagen in 4,5 Sekunden auf 100 km/h. Nur 16 Sekunden länger und Tempo 250 ist erreicht"
250km/hr = 155mph... so its 16 seconds to 155mph....

Cuz 16 seconds for 0-250 km/h sprint is just UNREAL!!!!!!!!
I guess it is possible that the EV12 is a 10 second car?
