Stage 3 W211 and a SL65!!!??? Must be nice! Problem with KB or any high boost is going to be getting fuel it wants. 91 is going to limit your boost quite a bit. I have seen an '03 Cobra at 670 RWHP on 100 octane! Only bad thing is I think the guy is on his third trans.

guy must drive like a dousche, or something. I havent heard many problems with the T56 tranny. I do know these cobras have gone over 800 on stock block.

I will be running 60lb injectors and a boost a pump, as well as a larger mass air meter. I am not worried about getting the car fuel, it's just the quality of it. I will be running less timing than the guys that get the good gas (93-94).

As for your friend breaking his trans. That is a very unusual problem and I haven't heard or seen anything except for some input shaft failures that are only on the cars that launch hard on the track with slicks. Fortunately there are upgradeable 26 spline input shafts that are about $250 that basically make the trans bulletproof.

Not really a friend, just an acquaintance. Haven't seen the car in while and I'm just guessing on the third trans. I know it failed once, but I couldn't tell you what the failed part was. At 670 RWHP, it's got to be around 800 crank HP and seems to me anything could break with that much power? Anyway, grab one of dad's MB's and come to the GTG next week.

Well, kinda late now, and it looks like it's going to have a great turnout. A few Evosport cars, at least 2 SC W210's countin' me, even a couple C55's and CLK55's. Might even be grabin' lunch at hooters!

It was perfect...we were both at a light (after he was going in and out of traffic to get up to me) and I was on the left and my lane merges into his right after the light, maybe 1,000 feet or so. He knew this too! I warned my girlfriend that this car will most likely kick my *** but buckle up baby, cause we're goin' for a ride!

Light turned green and we both punched it (my esp off, didn't power brake it, and I told my girlfriend to suck it in - maybe we'd be lighter - JUST KIDDING BABE - DAMN SHE'D KILL ME IF SHE SAW THIS - and no she's not fat at all - thank goodness! :p )

Outcome:
I darted out ahead but I sensed that he let off as he probably felt we'd be too close for the merge and I was ahead and then slowed down. I gave him a thumbs up through my window but he didn't respond. I hope he didn't feel that I was siked about beating him b/c I really don't count it and I'm sure he'd kill me once we got up to speed. What do you guys think?

I definitely knew what he had when he came up behind me based on the side intakes of his front, I knew it was an SVT.

Nick

PS If it was a close match up, would any of you kick your girlfriend/wife out of the car to spare the weight for a race? You could pick her up on the next block! Just curious how many die hard racers out there! :p

I call major BS. No way it was a cobra and if it was it was not an 03-04. If you want to see what a cobra can/will do to a w210 s/c PM me.
I think you're not seeing the word "KOMPRESSOR" after his cars listed. He HAD 349hp before fitting his kompressor. You HAD 265hp before Ford fit your kompressor.

2002 C32 Black/Charcoal
I raced a stock '04 Cobra (with slicks) in the quarter with my "nearly stock" (what the hell does that mean??) C32 with street tires. He beat me by about a car, but only because the slicks gave him a two-car-length launch advantage. I was pulling him hard at the end (his trap was 109, mine was 111). If I had slicks or he had streets (or if the race were another 200 yards, or so), I would have taken him.

I have never run against an SL55, but I assume that I would get my **** handed to me.

Conclusion: A stock (as opposed to "nearly stock" ) S/C Cobra will lose to a stock SL55.

I know what his mods are, and I know how fast cobras are. I have one remember. As for my car having 265hp before a blower...I have no idea where you're getting that info from. The 03-04 cobra has a different motor setup than any other mustang ever produced. Technically, if we were to take the blower off of my car and run it n/a it would most likely have less power than 265 given it's low compression ratio (8.5:1) as well as cams set up for a blower.

Like I have said before bone stock cobra trap 112ish mph, if his car is trapping better than that he should win...BY A COUPLE OF CARS MAX.

Nearly stock means I have an intake and exhaust right now. Nothing else. I am on the stock boost.

A stock cobra on slicks should be running 12.2-12.5. So unless you have a freak c32 with a V8K engine in it I can't see you only being a car back at the end of the track. And you shouldn't have been pulling on the big end. Cobras make more power than C32's. Power creates MPH, unless you're making more than 420bhp. (cobras are under rated)

I can only tell you what my personal experience was. I am sure that my C32 (with its nice little 3.2 litre V-6 pushing 3500 lbs of car) is putting out over 400 HP at the engine. My best quarter run is 12.8/112.

How is it that the Cobra, with close to twice the engine size and less weight, is so slow?

cobra's weight more than that. Coupes are rated @ 3680# and verts are 3860#.
Engine size has nothing to do with power. My friend has a 4cyl that none of us could keep up with. It's all about the setup. How much boost are you running? whats your compression ratio? Stock cobras are at 8psi with a 8.5:1 c/r.

Here's a look at the times for '03 and newer cars. I don't see a single Cobra doing mid to low 12's or better that is bone stock. Yes, some are faster, but they all seem to have at least a pulley, intake, exhaust, ECU upgrades etc.Drag times

Which, coincidentally, is exactly the Cobra performance that I saw in my race against one (12.9 @ 109). I have never seen a stock Cobra break into the low 12s either.

What does the average SL55 run in the quarter?

Only thing I could find was a couple of 12.5's, a 12.6, and a 13 flat.

Slicks dont help your trap speed. If i reember correctly they are worse for the top end/trap speeds, they are best for off the line performance.

that is just a fraction of cobras. I give up, I will never get through to any of you. Just go to modularfords.com and ask them what the average time for a cobra is on slicks and what the average time is on street tires.
