ML320 rattles and squeaks

ML320 rattles and squeaks
I recently bought a 98 ML320. I have 4 distinct rattles/squeaks that I would like any advice on:
1. Sunroof rattles at certain speeds (about 50mph )
2. Bad squeak in rear seat area (tried removing footwell covers)
3. driver side seatbelt mechanism in piller rattles
4. Rear hatch squeaks in slow turns (tried adjusting stoppers)
Any help would be appreciated.

What I did
I can't help you on all of your issues, but 2 of them sounded familiar:
1. Rear bench squeek: I used WD-40 to lube the joints under the seat assembly. That seemed to help. See if you can reproduce the noise by "punching" the seat while you are investigating the source and then apply the WD-40 (or other Silicon spray) to the area where the noise seems to be coming from.
2. Rear hatch. If the stopper adjustment didn't help, try one of two things: a. apply some sort of lubricant to the weather stripping all around the rear hatch area. (Basically, any areas that touch when closed need to be lubed.) You can use something like Armor-All or the like. b. Also, spray WD-40 on the hinges. That should help.
3. In order to get to the other 2 areas that rattle, you will need to do more then just lube! I don't recommend trying that yourself.

Re your rattles, in the 98 that I had I was never totally successful in eliminating all of them, in some cases they were fixed only to reappear later. There is something that my dealer did to the rear hatch latch that stopped the creaking and as I remember it was an adjustment and installing some felt insulation. My 02 ML500 has absolutly no rattles at this point

In the earlier models, they have a problem with the rear trunk cover..... too heavy. Basically after a few months, the spring inside will loose the tension and the cover begins to rattle. I had mine replaced and it still rattles. MB knew about this problem and I think they fix it in the later models.
