Yes, you can upgrade to the DVD nav. All you need is the DVD player that installs in your MCS. However I have a CD nav in my ML and a DVD in my E Class. I find that the CD shows more secondary roads and streets than the DVD and that the CD allows you to put in an exact address instead of a block of addresses for greater accuracy at destination. Quite frankly I prefer the CD. The only advantage of the DVD as I see it is to allow you to navigate to a point that with the CD would be on another disk. Re the Sat radio, I do not believe the MCS in the 02 will accept it, however you could go with an aftermarket one.

Thumbs down Wrong info on ML DVD based Nav System

The ML DVD-Rom based nav system, which is completly different from other Mercedes systems, does allow you to put in the complete address and also you can search by telephone number for some business firms. I just installed one in the MSC of our 2001 ML320. This and, I think, the other items you are looking for can be obatined from Sammy at mbdoctor.com. All of the parts I got form him were OEM Mercedes parts and the installation was easy with the Mercedes instructions he provided. His prices are also much better than from MB dealer. Look on the web site and there is a telephone number you can call to get all the help you need.
