ML GOD, MAF or O2 sensor?
After changing my crank sensor on my '99 ML320 the other day, all is great. 2 days later, I got a CEL, codes 170 and 173. I cleared them and finally after 4 days, they came back the same and cleared them again. I was told by a mechanic it is probably the O2 sensors, but reading here, I am not sure if it's MAF or O2 sensor. It starts and runs fine, no hesitation, no power loss, but how would you tell what to change? Do the O2 sensors give a different code or symptom? I have 90,000 KM (55,000 miles) on it. have you heard of cleaning O2 sensors by pulling them, cleaning with carb cleaner and then getting them red hot with a torch to rejuvinate them?

Out Of Control!!
If I am not mistaken if it was your MAF... your card would most likely run bad... with the MAF snding faulty signal to the computer it would add the incorect amount of fuel to the micture and thus would create either a super lean or super rich mixture which you would be able to feel... In the past when I have seen an MAF get funky it has led to random misfire code...
Your code is probably O2 sensor!!! I dont believe those effect how the car runs
