What's with the rear brake pad wear sensor on the 00 320?

I just completed a complete brake job on the front wheels, and opened up the rear ones for the same.

Unlike the front ones, the rear ones don't seem to have an embedded pad wear sensor on the pad. I still see the pad wear sensor on the caliper assembly. Does this mean the pad wear sensor on the rear one can be plugged and removed?

If so, is it okay to reuse the existing wear sensor, since, not knowing anything of this, when I ordered the pads, I didn't order the sensor...

Thanks for the reply....I decided to reuse it....as I was just about to put the new rotors on, to my shock, I noticed the brand new brembo rotor was cracked.. and a closer examination revealed it had surface damage on it too...

I will post some pictures of the damaged rotor....I could even capture the damage with the serial number right beside the damage on the camera...I called tirerack and they promptly agreed to overnight a replacement rotor and pick the damaged one up...

Considering that the rotors are from a company like brembo, is it common to see such defective rotors to get on to retail shelves?

Here are the pictures..the surface damage and the horrible crack...
