check engine

I was driving and i accidently hit my shift knob changing the top into 2 and 3. Then my check engine light came on and when i slowed down to maybe 5-10mph the car would start to shake, but i turned the car off and back on and it was all okay but the check engine light is still on.

does anyone know what's wrong?

take it to an autozone and ask them to plug it in for a diagnostic... or you could bring it to the dealership if you dont mind getting charged

Hawee,
Please let me know what's going on with you car.

The exact same thing happend to me. I was passing another car while in 3rd at about 5000 rpm I shifted to 4th. A few moments later at a stop light, my engine started to rumble really hard. I pulled over, turned of engine and restarted (just like a PC) and everything was fine except the check engine light won't go off.

THanks

possible MAS airflow sensor problem? when i had a bad MAS airflow sensor every time i drove my car hard the check engine light would go on and sometimes my car would stay in 1st gear to redline and shift violently but after i got the MAS sensor replaced that all went away. For me evertime my check engine light went on it seems like i just got the MAS sensor replaced and that fixed everything. auto zone will test your cars codes for free vs 90$ at my dealer just for them to look at it if your cars out of warranty.

My check engine light had gone on and stayed on and I thought it was because I was way overdue for an oil change and I had been doing alot of highway driving...I recently had it checked out at an MB dealer and it was the MAS air flow thing-a-majig...$579 but now the lights off and I can breath...i love my car!

......could be a missfire code too. Anytime a cylinder missfires, the computer documents wich cylinder and how many times, turning on the light in the process. I doubt this is what happend but imagine that when the engine reved really high, it sucked a bit of oil past a ring, fowling the sparkplug for a moment, causing a missfire. The engine runs rough for a bit, plug cleans itself off and begins to function correctly. The computer still senced the missfire, leaves the light on so you go have it checked.
(check engine lights will not come on due to lack of oil changes)
