K&N filter problems?
Im thinking about purchasing a K and N drop in filter for my ML55..
55Fanatic has told me that there are issues with the airflow sensors when using this filter? True? or is there something else I should be worrying about.

I've been using K&N products for 15 years.I will use them until I see another product that I feel is superior.I know if you search this forum you'll find people that have used this product and it has ruined their mass air sensors.I also believe that most people will use a product- any thing from a microwave to a food processor to a K&N air filter without READING THE INSRUCTIONS/DIRECTIONS.I just read the other day on this site where someone didn't know they could clean them and threw it away and bought another one. Most problems with K&N filters are from over oiling them.Whether it came from the factory or was recently cleaned. If you read the directions on the box and the re-charging kit you will have many years of reliable service.I have the K&N in my 97 Maxima now for 140k miles - not one bad mass air sensor or any problems and I'm still getting 23 mpg at an average speed of 75 mph.

Don't do it, possible damage and who cares if it improves something to the point where it can't even be noticed, if in fact it does.

ive owned two ML 320's both with K&N filters and ive never encountered a problem. if they are good enough for Ferrari's im sure they're good enough for an ML.
