Unhappy Scratched my ML320, now what?

Well, I seem to have some trouble parking cars in my garage, putting two large scratches in the car I traded in for my ML320. I've been a lot more careful with the ML320, but unfortunately it was bound to happen and I scratched it too. This time I was a little bit more careful when I realized I had hit something, and the scratch is relatively small -- there is one portion about 2" by 2" inches and another streak about 6" by 1/2". Both show no body damage; just peeled or chipped paint. It is on the lower front passenger side bumper.

So I'm not looking to restore this portion of the paint job to its initial luster, but just looking to cover it up reasonably. With all my other cars, I received a bottle of touch-up paint which should do the job, but I didn't receive anything with the ML320.

Should I have? If it doesn't come with the ML320, anyone know approx how much a small bottle will cost? Any special instructions I should follow?

And finally, is there any non-Mercedes scratch repair that is recommended/usable with the ML320?

Thanks for the advice.

Wink

I bought the touch up paint for about $18 from the dealer. It cmes with two bottles of paint in a set. One is the color paint and one is for the clear coat.

My own experience

I was able to clean up the majority of the scratch using first just soap and water, and then using Megulair's Clear Coat Body Scrub. The part that remains (the scratch itself) I have to use touch up for. My deal said a kit for my car would run $7.75 and includes the base paint and clear coat. I'm going to pick it up on Friday.

If the scratch isn't very deep, 3M Imperial Hand Glaze works well. It's a very mild paint stripper, and works wonders with darker colors.

After two damaged cars I would invest in a larger garage

next house...

It's on the 'buy' list.. but after buying the Mercedes, I've been set back a bit in my house buying ways. Next time.

Besides, the scratch is all but gone. the touch up paint did its job and its not noticeable unless you are looking for it... which is good enough for me!
