Help! My wifes ML320 won't start.
She is got a 1999 Ml320. 2 days ago, she stop for some milk and the car won't start no more.
At first I thought it was the battery problem, So i put in a new one(man, It was quite some work), and the engine just cranked and won't start. sometimes it sounds like it is going to start, but it just won't keep running.
Sometimes it will not crank at all.
The ML tow to a independant MB tech. He said it is the key problem. The immobilizer in the key just "quit-by-itself" And since we only have one key, we have to order another key from Mercedes it waill take a week to get it.
The MB tech told me that the fault code is " 1570 "
It means something like there's no communication between key and ECU.
The strange part is that she did not drop the key on the ground or in the water.
Anyone have any idea?

Thanks for your information. I didn't even think that ML has life-time roadside service. My fault. However, my MB tech has already ordered the key. I am still waiting for it. I'll post my update again. Thanks

If you have a new key, you have to program the key with a Star Diagnosis computer that we have in the shop. If you are just replacing the batteries in an old remote you can program it without the computer. If its an old key, all you have to do is turn the key to the "on" position, then take it out and hold the lock button while pressing unlock 5 times. However, in your case you said its a new key so this will not work without having an SDS hooked up.
