Pad life?

I took my ML55 in for brake squeel, I had a brand new set of rotors and pads put in a month and a half ago, and I have done around 4500 miles since then. I bring it in to the dealer, my service advisor tells me that the pads are down to 50%!!! Is this possible?! after 4500 miles?

Yes its possible. Use the other pedal less then you wont have to slam on your breaks. best thing to do is when you need new pads and rotors just replace them with brembro the stock ones are really soft and dont last long. usally i get about 11-12 thousand miles out of pads and i mainly drive on the freeway and am really light on my breaks.

I don't know about the ML 55 AMG, but my ML 320 gives me 20K miles on factory pads.

Best advice, do your brake job yourself...that's way the price of getting one brake job done at the dealer will cover you for almost 3 brake jobs...

Driven in the city I can def. foresee you going through your brake pads that quickly. Blastin out of a light and then having the next one change right under your toes and dodging those crazy cabbies. I would find someway/someone trustworthy to get your brakes done right maybe a Mercedes garage, other than mb, or try doin it yourself. You'll save a lot of money and be able to upgrade your brakes pads and rotors to slotted/drilled. It'll still end up being cheaper then going to MB for there regular overhaul.

Every 20,000 miles - new pads. Every 40,000 miles - new rotors.

Holy smokes! I've owned my ML for only a little over a year and a half, and I must say, I'm not used to this with my other Benzs and other makes. I changed my front and rear brake pads only 10 months ago, and now 17,000 miles later, I have do it again PLUS change the rotors.

My service advisor says it's about 20,000 miles for new pads and every other one for rotors. My bill today was around $1,600.

This is my first Benz that I've kept longer beyond the free warranty, and I can tell I'm going to get dinged annually.

Funny, I rarely spent a penny for my other Benzs I owned. I used to just trade in for a new model so I was always covered by the free service. Now, with this ML I'm keeping, it's going to be mucho bucks annually.

Sorry, that's including the B service charge.

It's 400 for the B service, and 600 each for front and back, for pads and rotor. At the MB dealer.

That's in the neighborhood of what guys are saying online for pads and rotors. Ditto the mileage. (Man, that's not a lot of miles before needing new pads and rotors! But this is corroborated by other ML drivers, it seems.)

Yep I second this!!! But his response is? "I dont drive fast, I let it cruise a lot" OR "HEY MY DAD DRIVES IT MOST, HE BEATS IT UP" Tell me when you get in the ML do you have to call JFK to get permission for take off?
