I have the front windshield tinted. 50% on front with 5% strip on top, 35% on front side windows, 5% on all back windows.
Highly illegal in CA, but it's been on one year with no problems. I even got a ticket for speeding and the policeman didn't say anything about it, although I was nervous.
It makes a big difference inside the car but it is hard to tell from outside the car.

Would some body post a picture on how it looks from front. I thought about it before, but always knew that it was illigal. Now that some of you done it and had it for a while, may be its not that bad, so would be nice to see how it looks on reality.

Sorry, I'm in the dark ages and don't have a digital camera yet. If the car is in the sunlight, with 50% tint it's not that noticeable from the outside. When I got pulled over for speeding it was a sunny day in LA and I rolled down my windows and opened my sunroof!
My friend has 35% on his front windshield, 20% on the side fronts, and 5% on the back and his car is quite dark. He got pulled over for having clear tailights and the policeman didn't say anything about the tint. I don't know if they didn't notice or didn't care. Go figure.
You probably won't find a shop that announces that they will do it. Become a good customer at a tint/audio/detail shop and then after a while offer them cash under the table.

Be carefull in VA. if you have a VA tag remember you have to have an annual inspection and they are tough on anything like sticker on the back windshied they will fail you. I knew because I live there for 12 years. You might enjoy it for 1 season but the next time you get inspected your done. my.02 cent.

I personally don't plan on having my windsheild tinted. Can't think of any reason to do it. Very unsafe. I was just curious a couple of times and asked around. I am going to have my front windows done this weekend to match the back.

I agree the tinted front windshield is really unsafe IMO, during the day maybe OK but at night.....just like driving with a sunglass on.
I'm not sure what % is the OEM tint but I can tell that mine is 35% on the front and it is 1/2 lighter than the OEM. I would guess it's 15% or 20%,the lower the number the darker it is, but I'm not sure either..diffirent brand diffirent tint. The shop should have a sample that you can compare. good luck..

Be careful if the front is going to be tinted as dark as the back. That is illegal in most states, because it's unsafe, and because the cops can't see when they are walking up to your vehicle. The police like to have some visibilty walking up to a vehicle. in their opinion, you could have a 12guage pointed at their head, and they would never see it coming. Check with your local laws pertaining to tint on autos.

Tinted my front window
Got the front windshield done with 50% and front side 35% but the back is all stock tint which I might tint over it another 35%. Major difference when it's sunny and 90 degrees outside! 20% cooler inside. What's up with all these %% signs? Blah!

Guys,
I just got my front windshield tinted.
The front is 50%
Driver /pass side is 35%
Back door and back are tinted over the stock tint- 35%

I tried to get the windsheild of my ml 430 tinted and every place i went refused to do it. they'd let me get double limo (i got dark instead) on the front driver and passenger side windows but nothing on the windsheild. how did u guys get yours on?
