'04 ML 350 brake ?
I replaced the front brakes on my wifes ML350 last week. Easy job and only took about an hour with a floor jack. Problem is, now it squeals during stops. I've heard it squeal when she pulls into the garage. I took it out for a ride today to try and determine the problem. Did not squeal cold or warm. I did forget to add the anti-squeal paste to one side. I did not replace the rotors and the backs still have some life left. Any ideas??? I used Mintex pads. Thanks for any help.

Could be Rotors....
My 01 ML430 squeaks too...MB dealer advised that it could be the rotors that need replacing...feel them and see if they have grooves on them or not, if they do, then you probably need to replace them...and ceramic brakes eases off the squeaking too...

Ceramic brakes tend to be harsh on rotors and are not as effective..
I learnt that after putting the ceramic pads on...fortunately on my used Nissan Maxima and not on the ML.
Ceramic brakes use much harder material. This means, they hurt the rotor more, and provide less braking power...of course you will get extended life, and might experience reduced squeal...

Thanks for the ideas. For some reason it squeaks more when she drives it. It is only when there is light pressure on the rotors (like when pulling into the garage). The rotors appear to be in good shape but might be slightly out of spec since I didn't have a tool. Have others used ceramic pads. I didn't see any when I ordered mine. Ceramic's are my first choice for a DD car because of the reduced dust.

I did a rear brake job with brembro discs and tire rack 40 buck pads. I used squeal paste and cleaned everything. Within a week I thought I was driving a city bus the rears squeaked so much. I sent the pads back and bought oem rear and front pads and no more squeak! It seems the pad material makes a big diff. Spend the extra 60 bucks and buy oem pads for around a hundo. Unless you like the nails on chalk board sound.
Ps the hotter the weather the louder it gets.
