remote key problems i need help
i have my both keys stop working at the same time for a 2001 ml 430. i thought it would be the batteris then i put new ones and i did the reprogaming thing as it show on the book the key will work once then it will stop working. do u guys have any idea of whats going on? someone told me to buy a new key should i go ahead and do that?
oh guys i just went to the dealer today and they told me that they have to reprogram both keys again and they will charge me about $75 to do it. do u think they will do the same thing on the book or they have a special machine to do it?

checkout this thread where I posted the info:

Essentially:
within 10 Seconds do the following
1. put key into ignition and turn to position 2
2. remove key and press+hold the lock button
3. while holding down the lock button press the left unlock button 5 times
4. release all buttons
5. press either the lock or unlock button to finialize the programmning
PS: This has to be done every time you replace/remove the battery!
good luck!

OP, do what you want...if it was me...I would want to try a few FREE diagnosis' before spending ANY money at the dealer.
Also, FWIW...my remote would lock the truck..then not respond. I took the batteries out, changed their position in the key (the top went to the bottom and vice versa) and it started working again. Not really sure the technical reason two batteries tested at the same voltage being switched would be...but it worked. Also worth a shot.
