ML rattling when cold

ML rattling when cold
In the morning when we start our ML55, the engine makes a very loud rattling/ticking sound.It also does it from 1500-2000 RPM when driving,but goes away when the engine gets to normal temp. We have had this problem checked by the dealer twice now, the first time they replaced all of the lifters and rockers, but the sound came back, so they replaced them again the second time, but it started rattling again 
Has anyone else had this problem, and is it really the lifters and rockers that are making the sound? thanks

ML500 Loud ticking noise when cold at start-up
I have had a similar problem such as yours ...with a loud engine when cold at start-up. The dealer also replaced the lifters and this had no effect. Per MB corporate...the engine internals were inspected with a boroscope and they claimed to have found carbon deposits. MB recommended the use of Chevron Fuel system cleaner with Techron every 3000 miles and the engine seems quite a bit quieter. I'm beginning to think that it was one of the fuel injectors and the cleaner dissolved the deposits within.

it is a common problem on the 55 engines... carbon deposits, go get a bottle of techron for the ML55 you will need a 20gallon treatment and a 12 gallon treatment, when the tank is near empty poor in the 20 gallon and half of the 12 gallon one, fill the tank, and then repeat once more for the next fill up, then every 3000 miles do it... wont come back
