ML500 - loss of power

I have an intemittent fault that is really starting to bug me.

While on driving on cruise control the car suddenly drops off cruise control and won't allow resuming cruise for 20 - 30 seconds. Also, occasionally hear a relay clicking away maddly under the dash and last and the most dangerous, total loss of engine power on acceleration, for about 5 - 10 seconds.

Have had it to the dealer and they can't find anything wrong.

Any ideas? I am getting desperate as today I pulled out to overtake and just as I got alongside the car I was overtaking, the engine died while I was on the wrong side of the road. Scary as, I'll tell you!
