Whistling noise in the morning

Has anyone ever experienced a whislting noise upon start-up in the ML320 (I have an 02) in the morning or when it is cold outside? The noise sounds like a bird singing and lasts about 10 - 15 seconds. It comes from the driver-side air vent closest to the side window. My mechanic is stumped. THX!

I had that looked at by the dealership before my factory warranty ended. They said it was the fan blower and they fixed it. Havent heard it since then.

Could it be your "e-box" (All Activity Module) cooling fan?

Dude....the same thing happens in my ML430 when its very cold outside. It only lasts for 10 seconds or even less. Since it doesn't last very long I always figured it was some fan making some start up noise. Doesn't seem to affect anything else, so I never mentioned it to the dealer.
If it ain't broke....or should I say...if it ain't too broke to drive!

The module box fan is faulty. easy fix. You dont want that fan going out. Trust me!
