Help! Cannot think name of this part!

Hi,

I don't know the exact name of the following part:

The clear plastic in front of the Odometer Gauge cluster. It appears like Previous owner sprayed with "son of a Gun" or ammonia cleaner and forgot to wipe off so you see droplets and spray like rain drops that I cannot clean using soap and water or windex for that matter.

It just looks plain ugly. I am thinking about replacing it so I can actually see my speedo well. The car looks dirty with it.

Any suggestions? Does this part come out? I can try buffing it - probably will break the darn thing.

Any way if someone can tell me what this clear part is called, I can look for it on the web.

thanks,

Before replacing, I would try either Mothers Plastic polish or Meguiars

plastic polishes........

things with and without wheels
Go to the marine supply store and look for lexan or plastic polish , There is couple of diffrent types , the one that worked best for me came in a small squeeze bottle it took out small scratches and hazing from weather damage, I'm confident that it will work on the staining too.

Thanks. I will try these ideas. I tried two different cleaners (WIndex with Ammonia, and a generic glass cleaning foam with ammonia) and they did not work. Meguire or lexan might do the trick.

Stay away from any of the windex types...you need plastic polish. I have used blue magic in the past to bring back clear plastic. Another alternative is go to, as someone mentioned, a boat shop or a motorcycle shop. Either one should have what you are looking for.

Instrument Cluster Panel

The "instrument cluster" plastic frame and clear cover is sold as one piece. You can't just replace the clear plastic. It is glued in to the back part of the cluster. There are great instructions on one of the other Benz forums in the W163 section on how to do it. It isn't easy unless you've done it before.
