upgrades on a '99 ML 430
right now i have the stock conventional head lights in the car. but i want/need to upgrade em to the xenon/HID/something better but the lenses have ridges on them so i need to get a whole new casing for the new bulbs...
would the newer 163 MLs have cases that would fit in my car? or is there a site/place where i can get new cases that will fit properly??
also are there any other recommended upgrades that i should make? theres some stuff wrong with it but in general it works pretty well for now, but any other things i should worry about?
thanks for your help

The better of the two would be the projector bi-xenon lights. PerformanceProducts4Benz.com has these, but I'm not sure if it's a good price or not.

^^^The only ones listed are halogens, so you may want to call them and see if they the Bi-xenons.

HID on ML w163
If you have blurry vision!!, upgrading to an HID will definitely be an advantage to you.
Hella bi-xenons projector headlights are good (Mercedes OEM source), however, it functions the same as an after market HID's. http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_kw=ML32...-320&_kw=hella
These days you can upgrade to an after market HID's without the needs of an Projector headlight http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=ml+....c0.m270.l1313 or with Projector headlights http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=ml4....c0.m270.l1313
The HID's varries in heat (kelvin)temperatures which causes the coloration to change in the bulbs, the Wattage produces more heat intensity as it goes up. The picture I have on my profile is an 10,000k HID 35watt (H7) and is a plug and play! (meaning you can do it yourself with the knowledge red wires are positive, black wires are negative and needs to be grounded). I personally like the deep blue color which "Hella" doesn't produce, so I had to go after market... one problem you will encounter with these HID's is that the beams are "blasted" and it can blind on coming traffic! I recently bought an after market projector headlight to solve this issue and my HID's are compatible with it! Now it is less offensive to on coming traffic without sacrificing the HID brightness... Win - Win!!!
FYI!!! getting an after market HID's or/and projector headlight will not melt the plastic cover, because HID's are cooler in temperature (35 watts) in comparison with 55w - 100w bulbs! - Remember the wattage is what produces heat intensity and not the kelvin temperatures inside the HID xenon gas bulbs!
Good luck!

Hi, would you mind sharing how much a setup like yours would cost?
Thanks,
Greg

Sure Greg!
The complete HID set up: 2 HID 35w H7 10,000K xenon bulbs, 2 Ballast = $100, and the aftermarket projector headlights = $154.00 TOTAL = $254.00 US.
Installing your HID is extremely Simple..
Things to know:
-Your headlight(s) only has 3 bolts and a plastic hook holding it in place
-You do not need to disconnect your battery, however, I did connected the HID directly to the positive ground on my battery to assure proper current flow is consistent and not have to worry about my lights going off once in a while.. I'm a bit paranoid Greg so I prefer doing things only once.
So here's the steps!
1.) Release your hood up
2.) un-clip the plastic cover underneath the headlight
3.) Remove the first obvious bolt on top then the other two bolts under your headlight (remove these bolts but make sure you place back the same bolt to its original pattern.
4.) Unplug all 3 connectors connected to your headlight (Signal plug, Main circuit plug, H7 oem Headlight plug)
INSTALLING YOUR HID
5.) Find a nice location you can place the ballast(s) securely!!! Remember, if your ballast is loose, it will shake once your vehicle is in motion and that's going to cause your HID lights to "flicker"
6.) Connect you HID ballast plug directly to your car plug! Again with my setup, I ran the positive wire directly to my positive battery. Keep in mind "red" or "white" wires means POSITIVE and "black" or "blue" wires means NEGATIVE. Then plug your HID Xenon bulb to the ballast. At this point you may test your headlights are working properly.
INSTALLING YOUR HID's TO YOUR PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS
7.) Majority of after market projectors aren't specifically designed with HID in mind, however, by simply removing the H7 bulb housing out, you will be able to properly place the HID bulbs inside these projector headlights, and then simply use/ bend a bobby pin to hook the HID bulbs into place securely....... NOTE** When you remove the H7 bulb housing, the pins that secures your bulb onto the projector headlight becomes trash, so using the bobby pin will act as the new pins to the projector's housings' hook. The hook is part of the projector headlight unit itself. "This is how I was able to place the HID's securely on my projector headlights!!"
8.) Plug the signal lights and the main circuit plug to your headlights then test that all your lights are working properly... Don't forget to "adjust" the height of your lights accordingly!! With projector headlights, aiming high isn't an issue since your beams are unified rather than being "Blasted", just make sure your lights are leveled with each-other or you're gonna have to take the entire headlight unit out just to adjust them again (more work!).
9.) Insert both bottom bolts and the top bolt back in their place, then the bottom plastic cover and you're DONE!!!
Enjoy Your New Driving Experience!

Here are the updated pics of my HID with Projector Headlights... Notice the beams are more unified rather than seeming "blasted".
