Extended warranty and lease end negotiation

Hi, I'm debating keeping my 02 ML500 at lease end and I asked for extended warranty price here at Barrier MB in Bellevue. THe price is exorbitant, in my mind, over $3k for 2 years, and just over $4k for 4 years.

Is this similar to what others have? Also, is it worthwhile on 2002 ML500 model?

I have just crossed the 40k in mileage and I'm wondering what's been the experience with the 2002 and later MLs reaching above 40k miles.

Also, anyone have experience negotiating directly with MB Credit on lease end deals?

Thanks and much appreciated,

Probably little consolation, but that's fairly cheap compared to extended warranties from MB in the UK. Last year I was quoted £1000 (~$1900) for 12 months cover, extra £250 (~$475) for initial inspection if manufacturers warranty lapsed. And remember that is for just 1 year!!

Just shows how much the underwriters expect to have to pay out on the warranty!!

BMW FTW
I had a 2000 320 and before the warranty went out I never had any trouble and they wanted $3200 for 2 year I think 30,000 mile. But decided it wasn't worth it since the car had given no prior problems and it had a tad over 41,000 miles on it and I drove it until 56,000 miles and I never had any trouble and only took it in for its regular service. The only thing I did was replace all the door clips but I did that my self and it cost less then $50 for all the parts. So I would say if you are going to keep you car for more than 2 years get the warranty if less than 2 yeas I say dont get it since the ones I was offered basically covered nothing that commonly went wrong in the ML. So a big factor for me of not getting it was the amount of time the car was going to be kept for and the past history of the car.
