I would like to change my coolant but unable to locate its pet**** (drain plug). Does anyone know the preferred way to do it? Thanks in advance.

I believe the coolant plug is underneath the front right side of the radiator. The plug is red.

Thanks. But I went and checked and checked but did not find the red drain plug. I wonder if there was alteration made on mine. It only make sense to install the plug at the lowest part of the radiator but I couldn't really find it. Pls. help....

Mine is 67,000 miles. I already replaced its spark plugs, air filter, synthetic oil/oil filter.

Thanks,
Russ

No plug. Just loosen the hose clamp and pull off lower rad hose. Watch hand if motor is hot..

Actually there is a drain plug located on the bottom right of radiator assembly (if you are seated in car), but its hard to get to and manipulate.

About a year ago I flushed, replaced coolant and changed radiator hoses in my 99 ML430. I drained radiator from drain fitting, removed both pet****s in block and also installed a Prestone backflush fitting next to coolant reservoir.

Easier way and almost as thorough is to just remove lower radiator hose drain as much as possible and replace with either the MB approved antifreeze or Zerez G5.....same stuff and cheaper. 50/50 mix is good for most enviroments.

I was surprised that the replaced hoses were still in good shape. No bulging or cracks in rubber. I'm saving them for spares. A lot of the 98/99/2000 ML's are probably due for hose replacement soon. NAPA carries both hoses for considerably less than the dealers want....just an FYI..

mercedes
My drain plug for radiatorml320 1998 is a black color plastic screw to the side of the radiator, unlike the convention plug facing downwards.
