Staggered Wheels for ML

Anyone using a staggered wheel combo on an ML? I am looking at 18X8 and 18X9s with 35mm offsets. These protrude more than the factory wheels but I am more concerned about effects on handling. A wider rear stance will induce understeer, but the F/R tire pressures for MLs are set to induce understeer as well.

while it techinically can be done... I wouldnt recomend it... you have an AWD system and the two never work well

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
people who have done it have reported colossal issues, including the car not running.

but if you get proper tires to offset the height, you should be okay. just calculate it right.

I plan to use the same size tires all around, it is just that the wheels come sold in a staggered size set.

Not sure if this has an impact on the AWD if tire heights are all same. Only the F/R track will be different from the original.

BMW FTW
The ML isnt a sports car staggering wheels is a stupid idea on the ML. It will not only mess with the 4wd like other have said but ESP will have a field day. Really no point to have them just adds more unsprung weight = bad handling and it also takes a toll on gas milage. Your not driving a 500 HP + RWD car you dont need them. Keep all wheels the same. Also if you didn't think about rotating the tires... well bad news

then you will have issues. tires must be of different size to offset the stagger.
