2000 ML430 not starting

anyone encounter a problem where the ML won't start? basically what happens is when i try to turn it on (flick the key fob into ignition) the engine just keeps turning and turning but doesn't seem like it catches on. i read saturnstyl's list of problems to look out for and i wonder if that happens to be the fuel pump that is not functioning 100%.

could be a stuck starter/alternator..or simple going flat dead battery...or of course the fuel pump.

When this happened to me................. it was the CPS (crank position sensor). This problem will store no codes. Also a very common problem. My 2 cents.

oh no wonder the computer did not pickup anything. k i'll suggest it to the mechanic.

benz_nut, what are the chances it could be a almost going battery/alternator/starter? lights don't seem dim when entering the car, radio runs fine cuz normally if the battery is almost going dead, the radio won't turn on if the key is not in the ignition.

Well...I suggested those because that was what happened to MY ML. when my battery died out, it was during the day, so I didn't notice any dim lights, and my radio was still coming on...also the starter/alternator suggestion was not from my ML, but my surburban...I remember one occasion it tried to start...but couldn't...elimated possiblities like batteries, sensors, fuel lines and it came down to the starter....
